  1. I have some friends who skied in Bolivia. This is supposedly the highest liftserviced skiarea. It is around 5300meters. They were with 4 and rented 2 pairs of skis. After 1 run they were exhausted and then gave the skis to the other 2 who had been waiting. They alternated skiing and recuperating the whole day. It wasn`t really good snow or good skiing but it is a good story which you can tell your friends (much better then this).
  2. Spraying warm water sounds like a good idea, until another car drives through a pothole in the road and instantly turns you windshield into a layer of ice. This happen to me twice the first time \i saw these things it scared the s*@t out of me. Good for a adrenaline rush that got me through the day.
  3. Ok, I am not one of the old guys but I like the ducking ropes suggestion. Maybe a poll `do you duck ropes or jump ropes`
  4. Really depends what the conditions are. On the slopes every day, but for bc a lot less. Another question is how do you wax? Iron, rub on, cork?
  5. Austrian skiresort Maurhofen has named their new and according to them Austrian steepest run Harakiri. wondering if there are more runs around with Japanese names.
  6. Since 3 or 4 years there are 8-seat chairlifts around. Mainly in Austria.
  7. snoweurope.com is still available. Snowcanada and snowusa are taken. so maybe someone is trying to copy Snowjapan.com Ifyouski.com is decent, but just on information. They are really trying to sell you a skiholiday
  8. Chile: Pucon is a nice place to party, small ski resort on an active vulcano. The best resorts in Chile are Termas del chillan and Portillo both are far away from anything. Most people going to these places stay there for the week. (parties included) Valle Nevado and some smaller resorts are 'close' to Santiago. Santiago is a great city where a lot is going on any day of the week (but no real apresski). Haven't been to Argentina but I heard real good stories about Bariloche. I guess that would be my bet.
  9. The SP rocks in powder but feel pretty wide under foot on the slopes. Not much carve there. LBF is last years model. This years Legend 8800 is the same as last years LBF. This is less float but more park/slope ski. Depending on what you want you think you will actually be skiing (this can be a lot different from what you want to ski).
  10. Party in S.Lake Tahoe hit the snow in Kirkwood and stay clear of Heavenly. Val Thorens and Les 2 Alpes have good clubs and great skiing Cham is always fun, but everyone seems to be there for the powder so soon everything is gone. Same for St. Anton, although Lech usually keeps freshies longer. Park City has a good night scene and skiing in the Canyons. Also the combined skipass for Alta/Snowbird is great for skiers. (You can board down in Alta but you won`t be able to get on a lift there when you have a snowboard on your feet). SLC has some goods clubs.
  11. What about the eQw part? not part of your name or only for stangers? Used to like moguls until I lost control one time to many.
  12. Moguls don't have to be bad for your knees. If you have the proper technique, control and timing. The problem is getting to that level and being always in control.
  13. I drive a car too. Trains are quick once you are on one, but before that it takes too much time. Wednesdays can be good too
  14. Tried to go bare foot, but this isn`t a feast for your innerboot (smells and a wet foot stickts to the liner). So now I use the thinnest socks I can find.
  15. I prefer weekday too. I go to Naeba from 7-11 Feb and try to go on Thursdays. But right now too busy to leave the city.
  16. So was it 'too much snow' as in they had to close the lifts because the snowlevel was reaching the chairs??? Or just a blizzard?
  17. According to someone near the source it is all blown out of proportions. There were some projects that both companies wanted to work together on, both they all fell through. this could be the truth, but considering the circumstances a possible take-over sounds very well possible. Although I find Nike a better contender then Quik.
  18. IF you get a harness then don't clog up your backpack with it, wear it!
  19. Have a look at the new SJ site where the most snow has dropped over night and go there. Maybe you run into some steeps.
  20. Yeah 2 hours should do it. Without too much traffic. Yesterday it took me 2.5 hours from Gotanda. That is the extra 30 minutes.
  21. To me Quik sounds alot better than Rossignol. I might even consider buying Rossi stuff then. Although I have some Dynastars and that's also part of the group.
  22. Japan's resorts are small even the larger one, but you only need 1 good lift to enjoy yourself (although I am still looking) As for challenging terrain. Didn't find too much challenging terrain in the USA either, haven't tried Canada yet. There is nothing like Cham around here, but regressing??!? To me that hasn't much to do with steeps or challenging terrain. It can make you sit longer in the restaurant during lunch because you don't want to do the same over and over again. Lacking the real challenging terrain should able you to bring your technique to another level and then wait until y
