  1. Just sorting my car out for the season and need to buy a roof rack this year as got a new car. Can`t afford to go for the THule Box things but need something basically for board and skis. I got given those magnet fixings that just attach to your roof like a magnet on a fridge but don`t trust them at all. Anyone had any experiance with them? What I want are the Yakima pop open things, but they, after looking around, look pretty expensive, 2万円 near me. What is the going rate? Car is an Ipsm witht he rails allready on the car. P.S Looked in the used shops but nothing yet.
  2. I also live in Chiba, if you are looking for the nearest slope it is Hunter Mountain. If you are a beginner it will do you OK, other than that the only thing going for it is the distance to here. THere is a beginner half pipe and advanced pipe too though, not that i reccomend you attempting that though obviously.

The smell of it every night as you come in the door from school was great, you knew crimbo was around the corner.

  5. Bugger Nuff said If only cricket was contact!! Bloody Warne
  6. Seems as though it`s not the best start for England on first day, Ponting was on awsome form unfortunately!! Got pretty excited when Flintoff took the wicket, but alas the runs kept ticking over! First test OZ it seems, bit of a let down considering it was the most hyped up and eagerly awaited cricket game......ever!!! First ball was a MASSIVE wide too.
  7. A colleague of mine transfered over to the new passport, in all took her 20mins. really easy procedure and hardly any paper work. Also transferred over the re-entry permit.
  8. Mantas-Just get one of your Australian personalities killed by one and am sure the public would do the rest!!
  9. fjef-Would that work with a mac also do you know? Been trying to work that out for a while now, how to get my movies through TV rather than having to stare at the laptop,
  10. Farm stock have more rights than humans on rush hour trains in the UK. We have a set of laws that stipulates the size of pens a cow can be kept and also be transported in. I forget the actual size requirements but it is way more than people daily put up with on trains commuting in TOkyo or even on the tube. Also we have enough areas and grass growing conditions so often it`s cheaper and also possible for outside grazing during most of the year. I comne from a farm at home where we have about a 400 head stock and we feed out for 70 percent of the year. Unlike the US where they have fattening st
  11. Haven`t too much time to post on this but is something I struggle with many days a year. Whale is easily found in Japanese eating establishments, if you ask at virtually any izakaya or sushi restaurant they will most likely have it. Not just a delicacy either, there is a fast food restaurant chain called Lucky Pierrot which sells a Whale Burger. In response to the other question about them not being endangered, there are several species of cetaceans which are on the endangered list, some of which are critically endangerd (blue whale, humpback whale, fin whale, sei whale, northern li
  12. All going off on TV, NHK repeating there emergency warnings. But no info of tsunami having arrived yet.
  13. There is a winter sports do at Makuhari, Chiba this weekend apparently, 3,4,5th Nov. also. Its a MASSIVE venue so may well be some decent stuff in there, not sure the details but will have a look around.
  14. AK77-Cloud Atllas by David Mitchel, yeah it`s an awsome book, really enjoyed reading that, awseomt he way he intertwines the different time periods. Great line in it, "Humans, someone says, have the intelligence of gods and the souls of jackals." Oceans End- Colin Woodward, as depressing a read you can get about the future of our seas.
  15. Don`t get any with Softbank, try changing your email add. Mine is just my name plus a number and as I said no crap through on mine. I like the ability to call internationally from my softbank phone without the pre paid cards and stuff, although a bit more expensive it is handy when i really have to use it. The only thing that pisses me is I have the free sms to a select group of numbers thing, but you can only type in up to 70 characters in Japanese before it changes to MMS, yet it`s 160 in romanji!

  17. Not too bad around Tokyo as you stay on the highway above the city for the most part, it`s just where highways meet and cross over a million different lanes in the space of a couple of hundred meters!! You do a get a good view of Odaiba and drive over the Rainbow Bridhe coming from Narita though, which is a pretty cool site at night. Am at the airport tomorrow so will see if I can see anything about car rental/pickup while I am there if have time.
  18. KEba- I live in Narita at the moment so if you need help with the locations of car rental I can let you know. Guess you can arrange a pick up from the airport, but there are two companies I know of right next to the JR Narita station. Navigating aaround Tokyo is a bit of a mare at first but once youa re past that its pretty plain sailing to Hakuba.
  19. "Coping with Depression" by Odile Asamaritan?? Sorry that was weak!
  20. This thread has become Jack Schitt to do with the title! Hugh Ever, Drew Peacock and Randy Beavers, May Haves things to add!! Ba dum tsch! This has got to stop!
  21. There`s a beer brewed in Shiga Kogen somewhere I think that is really nice. Always buy a few bottles to bring back when am up that way, have only ever seen it in a small vege roadside market place. Was in a gallette place the other weekend in Harajuku, (love that stuff), and had a few glasses of dry cider from Brittany. Haven`t had it since I lived there ages back and loved it, and rather potent. Also used to drink the strongest and most awsome home brew cider at uni when lived with a mate from Somerset, in S.England, which was famous for the drink and also being rather inbred!! How linke
