Had five awesome days here at TC in Aug folks -It looks like they have just had a really good end of season top -up in Central over the last few days so could be even better now - not too many action shots getting a bit old for that but hopefully you cn get a feel for the awesome terrain and crispy dry snow - As I was with family we rented a car and drove down from recent Earthquake hit ChCh -one of the pics is from the rental drive through the Linis pass (canterbury to central otago mor or less) I also have some videos will try to upload them to the .tv website man the conds were

CAR DANCHI is awesome - Neil Hartman has been making those kind of movies for a while it seems - quality stuff !

Cheers for the reply - I really see where you are coming from to be honest with you. For me it is the humbleness of the people on the slopes, The complete lack of Ego`s and one constant upmanship that I`ve seen in resorts at home and in Europe. Again a bit of a generalisation , but to quote the famous Aus movie `The Castle` it`s just the Vibe in inverted commas. Everybody is there for the same thing and why people can`t just get on with it grates me at western resorts. The Japanese are really good at that. they all seem to have fun on the slopes. You see a lot happy people mostly having a laug

Why is that though Pete - its all well and good to say that but what are the reasons behind that - As I have never been to the US I can`t comment but v interested nonetheless- same applies to Auszies / Kiwis etc ?

ah I see - gd info thanks David - It claimed to have one of the steepest runs of resorts in Japan as well if I remember right - It was a good place interesting base facilities / onsen and video games and a skateboard ramp presumably people would make use of in a white-out i guess - Quite progressive initiatives for a resort here.

Kandatsu Pineridge resort had an awesome deal posted on this site a few years ago - I`m not sure if that place is still operating under that name if at all though - think it was either 28k or 38k - represents good value even with the yen where its at

It sounds like a good trip but this is your honeymoon right - travelling around finding places can be a bit stressful at times especially when you are lugging around a couple of dead bodies effectively - agree with a few others tone down a bit and cut out 25 precent of the touristy stuff - have a great trip - bhope you are getting some good days in NZ

Not so sure about Shiga - but I worked for one of these ski schools in Hyogo for many seasons - very fun and interesting job - The ski schools basically have a license to print money and are structured like factories that spit out little teenage skiers after a few days drilling the `Hanogi` (which is very similar in pronunciation to the word for bleeding nose as it happens!) The kids are so obedient and I think thats one reason why it works well here- can`t imagine a class of 20-30 kids at home all keeping military like file - helping each other when the fall etc - Really good for the kid

If you are already looking at going through NZ to get to Chile as it`s Aug I would head straight to the Sth Island - ChCh - then either drive or fly to wanaka or qtown - I have hired a car from the 9th Aug pick up chchc and includes a free day pass for TC with every day of REntal - sweet deal worth just hiring for that - hit me up if you want some detsils - TC is pretty hard to beat on a good day - cheers

Interesting topic - may as well contribute - Firstly, I found out the hard way recntly that it`s all worked a year back - I worked for a company for five years that paid it all out of HK now being stung for a chunk due June 20th - It`s like it`s designed to try make you leave if you find yourself out of work - not sure if this is the same for the locals or not - does anybody know ?

Gd stuff Capt - I know St Clair well - esplanade, cliffs road, jacobs ladder etc - nice part of the world - Yeah Wanaka is great hey Roscoe - Even if you do win the lotto you might want to win again for Wanaka - nearby Luggate and Hawea are other options - I think Cromwell could be the next wee town to take off - represents good value there now I think spent ALOT of time in Wanaka in my youth - TC is a great hill - lots of politics within management / locals etc - it`s just a wee place your backyard - on a really good day I think it`s on par with any resort in japan for different
