  1. She should be ok....but, If its blowing snow at the top she may not like it that much. If the gondola is on wind hold you wont be able to make it over to Hirafu and if IIRC the high single chair at the top of higashiyama may not be much fun for the missus in a blizzard. My advice would be to catch the bus if the weather sucks or possibly a cab may be neccesary as busses are infrequent in the middle of the day.
  2. Yep gotta admit to have started checking the temps already. I am really looking forward to the first cold snap!

I've decided to put this Niseko vs Hakuba thing to bed for good. I'm spending a lot of my own time and money doing this research for you guys so I hope you all appreciate what I'm doing. It's the last thing I want to be doing in Feburary beleive me. I did it last year. Unfotunately the conditions sucked in the end of january when I was there (rain crust covered in dust)so I didnt get the gold. One thing I will say though is without a decent
  4. 6000 ragging on Niseko 2000 Boosting Hakuba 1000 "wear your beacon" posts 1000 where I couldnt really tell what he was on about!
  5. Not a surfer myself but had the urge lately to give it a go....mainly after reading a one foot high stack of sufing mags in the smoko shed at work. You see I live 25minutes from the gold coast and lately have been working in broadbeach on a highrise so as for views I have been restricted to three things a) a building site b)the swimming pool at the sofitel or c)the waves which have held an interest whilst being so far away from any white stuff. As much as the foot high stack of ASL,Tracks and Waves spurned an urge to get a different type of board beneath my feet they also learned me about what
  6. I am not trying to stir the shit but do you Hakuba-ites ever get sick of the same debate? I dont think I have ever pushed any mountain over another......well maybe thredbo over perisher but I digress. Chop has a point, no one is pushing Niseko down your throat but year after year your Niseko anti-passion never wanes. Tell me.....what keeps the fire so strong.
  7. Hahha......yeh its also good to bag Brisbane. I will pass on the XXXX though!
  8. One of the ONLY good things about living here in Brissie is the kngaroo point cliffs in the city. There are provisions for top roping and are lit at night which is great for summer climbing, they are very popular. Climbing real rock is heaps more rewarding than climbing a man made wall. BTW- Top rope-rope suspended from the top Lead climb-leading the rope up with you Free climb- Big freaking balls no rope needed Sorry about the pic quality below!
  9. Someone mentioned the back of Niseko, thought i would add this pic to the convo-
  10. Soub, I recently bought a logitech 350 USB headset to use with skype and I was having the same problem as your kids. I exchanged a few emails with logitech support without success. I was going to take the headset back but the problem seems to have not re-eventuated. Sorry I couldnt be more help!
  11. I also read an article in a Brisbane newspaper about Hakuba which also used the Mt Yotei volcano in its photos!

You'll have to tell us how the powderfly core is. where are you going to get it? From a bud that works in shop in Vancouver...when they get stock. Will def let you know what its like!
  14. Quote: Originally posted by chop: I found the info , but i think they only do backcountry snowmobiling, not backcountry skiing? niseko snowmobile adventures. I wonder? I emailed them already to ask them exactly that!
  15. Beginners with the best outerwear and boots money can buy....why not? Boards I would say are a different matter and its important that its suitable, if it happens to have a high grade sintered base and good technology then great!
  16. For me riding powder sucks duck. Having a forward stance just seems super natural riding pow. Its the only time i ride with a forward stance. The rest of the time (ie:in OZ) I ride approx +20-8. Duck seems gentler on my knees also....if I hit alot of jumps with a forward facing stance my back knee can ache for weeks, like it is right now!
