16 months later. Oh dear, I would still call myself a beginner. Perhaps advanced beginner. Love it, but difficult. But I am feeling the need to put some real effort in now.

Trivial (or not) irritations [2009/2010]
r45 replied to r45's topic in General off-topic discussions
Sometimes a thread cannot be found. (And yes congratulations on beging fab if you can). I can't remember more than 1 thread called trivial irriations before. Anyhow I changed the title and gave it an updated remix. -

OK new thread. Couldn't find the old one and perhaps time for a new one. I'll start. When Japanese people explain off the rude or crappy behaviour of another Japanese person with the well worn "Nihonin wa...." - when it has absolutely nothing to do with their Japaneseness. I know some people who when talking to me will auto-pilot into that comment and I just want to clip them around the ears when I hear it.

It all depends on how sincerely they say it. And how many people are waving. And how nice their smiles are.

I have recently taken a pay decrease. This has meant effectively that I can keep my job. Lots of other people I know have also had similar. I don't think everyone is suddenly cutting back their work effort by the same percentage as their salary cut. Glad I'm not working with you.

A rather bad example there Go Native. I guess griller is meaning the "do the minimum needed" attitude that you seem to be supporting.
