  1. I think the problem is that you're looking to the charts to find good music....
  2. Guns for money programs are a joke... I doubt they have any impact on gun crimes in the US, and I seriously doubt authorities destroy the weapons either (probably get sold to gun dealers at auction for dirt cheap for all we know). Even if they did, they would never be able to come close to destroying as many guns as are being manufactured and put on the streets. I don't agree with the whole idea of stiffer penalties on guns though. The US has overcrowded prisons to begin with, and it's painfully apparent that prison does not prevent crime. A more constructive solution would be to pass a
  3. holy shiat! That vid gave me the chills. He is one lucky dude to be able to walk away from that...
  4. It's due to the fact that people vote based on who says "yoroshiku onegaishimasu!" nicer, 8:00 every Sunday morning before the election.
  5. If you go back and watch the first few seasons, they have their funny moments, but they're really tame, and have sappy-ass endings. It seems like the producers loosen the reigns on the writers every year, because they keep pushing it. They've been doing totally bizarre stuff (not "mainstream" comedy), and they've gotten quite political lately to boot.
  6. This is probably a fake... but since there are a few surfers on this board, I thought it was worth sharing anyway:
  7. Almost done with Shogun. Enjoying it tremendously. The DVD box set of the 1980 miniseries is coming out in september. It's 9 hours total, and i've read it's pretty good and true to the book. I'm psyched for that!
  8. what the crap!? Just got back to Tow-kee-owe expecting the crapola weather to be over... but summer seems to still be eluding Japan...
  9. Ocean, would you argue that the viewpoints you have are not directly influenceed by a Christian value system? e.g. Sex that is not for the purpose of procreation = bad. Deviation from "normal" sexuality = bad. Homosexuality = bad.
  10. Kinda off topic, but... Had a company meeting today and at the end, management opened up the meeting to questions about anything... I was shocked when a guy I work with asked the president of my company point blank, "why are there no bonuses this year, and why haven't salaries been raised at all?" The president, totally unfazed, replied with a slick politicians answer. Something along the lines of "Well we really want to but, blah blah blah, shoganai..." So the guy fired back, in an accusatory tone, "we've heard the same thing for the past three years, and still nothing's improved!"... hi
  11. I'm not really a flaming lips fan, but I recently downloaded a radio show of Beck with the Flaming Lips... aparently they're touring (recording?) together now...
  12. Check out Chapelle\'s Show It's Dave Chapelle's shot at a sketch comedy show, and I lose my sh*t every time I see it. Totally un-PC, offensive stuff, Hilarious. You can download the whole 1st season on Kazaa.
  13. Just when you thought Japanese scientists had gone too far creating the square watermelon... they present us with the new and improved... PYRAMID WATERMELON!
  14. Enderz super-xbox is the ultimate game system. I'll have to get one soon.... September right?
  15. Quote: Originally posted by Ocean11: danz, to answer your point, some people, including myself, think that sexually defective people should not be put in charge of normal children. There are good reasons for believing this. And if people want to play family that badly, they should get the basic units in place first. Certain sacrifices may be required for that. What is the relationship between a person's sexual behavior and their ability to raise children??? I don't see the connection....
  16. Quote: Homosexuality is a deviancy that afflicts a tiny fraction of the population C'mon, you can't be serious... You're making it sound like a disease that "afflicts" people. As unnatural as you may have been taught to believe, homosexuality is part of nature. As long as you think of it as a disease or deviancy, you won't have an open mind about it....
  17. Of course it should be allowed.... what's wrong with two people that love eachother? they're not harming anyone else by being married. Stupid that it's even an issue...
  18. How has christianity or any religion for that matter prevented some group from being intolerant or violent?
  19. Whereabouts in Ebisu is Mai Thai... can't wait to see Thai rock videos...
  20. Definitely Marley, Dylan, Hendricks, and Lennon. I'm not sure it's so easy to classify people as songwriters in today's musical landscape though...
  21. I haven't heard enough thai to really have an opinion, but whenever I go to thai restaurants playing thai music... the singing is really whiney and shrill...
  22. Went to this thai joint near Ebisu station, with Goemon and his buddies once, and I swear it was the best thai food I've ever had... I've gone back there like 5 times in the last month, and they've been closed for renovations or inspection or something... G-mon: any idea what's up with that place??
  23. Quote: Originally posted by Goemon: It's nice to get back to NJ every now and again, just to let it all hang out on the dialect-tip wit da woooo wooooo!
