the flights are around 14hrs, but it usually takes me about 24hrs to get back to the us from my apt in nagano. really sucks being so far from the airport. last summer when i was coming back to japan, a 6hr delay in toronto caused me to miss the chuo taxi from narita. so i had to stay in a hotel and i didnt finally reach my apartment til about 3pm the next day. travelling sometimes takes waaaaay too long.

sometimes i feel like i see japanese people who look very native american... esp with guys with super long, straight hair. ooh, that beats big hair anyday. anyways, maybe a lot of japanese assume gaijin are american since they are taught american english in the public schools... but the textbook i use now in junior high school features a canadian aet. perhaps in about 10years they'll all ask, are you from canada?

never heard of links. but we do use the metric system for some stuff- 25meter pool, 100meter fields, etc. and i way prefer to use celsius for temperature. i dont understand what fahrenheit means at all!

the pan american highway goes from alaska to the tip of south america. its 16,000miles long, but there are two missing links about for about 54 miles thru national parks in panama and colombia. that will get you pretty close to south america. and i dont know what the deal is about going over the panama canel.

sometimes i think satc is over the top esp with the outrageous outfits and some of the storylines, but it's a great show! it can be really funny, and i dont think the women are dogs. they arent supermodels or anything, but i think they look good, esp considering their age and the fact that some of them have had babies. usually i question the appearance of the men they sleep with (mr big was way not hot). definitely a good show to watch with friends and then discuss afterwards.

your first bbq now? I've been having them for a while. so a bbq story. last year there were about 5 of us bbq in zwelgen's back yard. It was the night after a rager party, so we were all pretty mellow- only a couple of us were drinking. It was maybe 7 in the evening, and we had a little fire surrounded by big stones and we balanced the grill on top. zwelgy's mean ass neighbor comes over and tells us we have to stop the bbq, we're being too loud. our food wasnt done, so we told him we had to keep cooking. he comes back about an hour and a half later and yells at us to put the fire out bc

yeah i heard he'll be 63 when they do the film. older than sean connery was when he planned indy's dad in the last one.

i just found out that my japanese friend has no hair on her legs! neither do any of the women in her family. no shaving... must be a dream. have you lads come across other lucky smooth ladies?

dont sleep the night before, and drink lots of water and juice on the plane. maybe just one glass of wine for the extra boost for sleep. i once flew hawaii-tokyo, then the next day tokyo-bangkok. on the second flight i had a couple of glasses of wine (not much for me) bc i wanted to sleep, but it really hit me with all the travelling. i got up to go to the bathroom and i passed out- knocked my head on the door and scrapped my knee on the floor. not only embarassing, but kinda scary bc i was alone so had no one to look after me

dutch is a cool language bc it sounds a lot like english so you can kinda understand it. i remember dank u= thank you. lots of similiar sounds and same intonation. i was in amsterdam and went to a movie and they had dutch ads before it started. i really thought it was english and i just wasnt paying enough attention to understand.

i love using massage chairs on display at stores. the best is when youre in tokyo on a bender weekend and you just want to relax and you find a chair... ahhh

Whats the deal with the flowers on the phat luvs??? Who on earth are they aimed at? I dont know about the other ladies here but Id be embarassed to rock up to the mountain with those strapped to my feet. It screams "Im a wuss" and "Im not hard" stuff that. I wouldnt get them for the sole reason that the graphics are naff. Dont get me wrong, ive got nothing against flowers but its not very inspiring to look down and see some hibicus. Gimme a flame breathing dragon or summat.

what about the ladies? i tend to wear skirts to work, but never with hose in the summer. getting tempted to start wearing capris.

i once went away for the weekend and left by back sliding door open. right in front of it was my laptop. now that its hot, i leave my upstairs windows open 24/7.

i played field hockey too... usually on grass fields, a couple of times in college we were lucky and played schools with turf. but i hated the 4am practices before those games (it was the only turf time we could get at a nearby college). such a different game on turf- so much faster, cleaner, i loved it.　　also tried ice hockey a couple of times- way different and difficult, esp considering i cant skate.

as one of those mirror-carrying people, it's quite convenient to use it to do makeup or whatever on the train. otherwise, you do it at your house way before you reach your destination. but i guess if i'm so concerned about makeup, i'm already vain
