  1. Yeh, they're pretty good. I think I used them on my last trip. I also use No 1 Travel a lot. Here's No1 web address: http://www.no1-travel.com/
  2. Sue the bastard! you might win.... it's totally racist discrimination, though his paranoia and bad attitude is probably born out of sensationalistic Japanese press....
  3. Oops, I meant to say the middle of SE Asia You know that area on the equator and hot all year round..... Yeah, nice to meet you too... definitely let me know when you're back down. (you too Nekobi).
  4. Thanks for all that info everyone. It's so helpful for a newbie like me! db - wow, many thanks for such a detailed response. That's exactly the kind of stuff I was hoping to find out about. (and for that wonderfully cheesy document). I'll wade thru those sites next week when I have a little more time. I'll also continue my search for an Oz accountant to talk with. I don't see any money coming through Australian channels, so I assume that means no income in Oz, thus no tax, but I'll check into it. I should be able to get my sister into the deal to help out, though of course s
  5. I'll be staying here to paint the lotuses in the pond at the bottom of Ueno park. There's thousands of them. Last time I was able to it felt like I was somewhere in the middle of Asia. Great feeling. Good holiday when you can't get away.
  6. I miss the smell of the eucalypts and the sounds of the Oz birds. (actually in the park down the road they grow gum trees in a greenhouse and cut the branches off every year, so I can get my eucalyptus hit when I really need it, but it's just not the same as being in the Oz bush......
  7. I didn't realise you didn't pay the yen out. So you just have to show you have the money? And then what? You're not allowed to use it forever more? Interesting.... but I'll still probably go for it from Australia. If I do it here then I may have to join or pay dues to JASRAC, which is another kettle of fish altogether. So how do I get information in Australia? Anyone know a good accountant? Or is there some kind of government information service?
  8. That was a long one.... glad I was on ground level.
  9. Thanks. Oops, I'd better clarify the last paragraph I wrote - I was referring to trying to register it in Oz while being here in Japan (not physically in Oz)...... not registering it as a Japanese company in Japan.... no thankx....
  10. Hi, I need to start my own publishing company and it will be far easier for me to register it in Oz than Japan. At this point in time it's not likely that any money will go to this company in Australia. It will probably come to me in yen here in Japan, so for now at least I probably won't need to be declaring income on it in Oz. However, apart from the fact that I've never started a company or business before, I haven't lived in Oz for over 10 years, so I'm wondering if anyone on this board can give me some advice/information on going about this. Or point me in the right direction

I'm a big music fan and super willing to support a member of this forum..what are your distribution channels? Well, thanks for supporting independent music Kintaro. I'm currently looking around for distribution and if it turns out I can't get it I'll put it out myself. I'll keep you posted. If you're impatient and want an unmastered CDR of the finished mixes email me. As for the chillout stuff, that'll be in Tower, etc.... Quote: BTW- my

Yeah, just have to sort out the visa thing..... good luck on that one - to stay for any length of time might not be as easy as you think. I don't know what it's like now, but about 15 years ago a British friend who has Aussie citizenship was trying to get her daughter into Oz from GB. It worked on a points system for qualification and she didn't get enough points to be qualified to immigrate, not even with her mother living here. With the illustrious Mr Howard in office and tougher immigration laws there c
  13. Kintaro - I never quite know how to describe it. I guess it's kinda pop, a lot of it with a strong world flavour. If you like people like Peter Gabriel and Sting you'll like it, though it doesn't really sound like them. I don't know if that's your kinda thing, but hey, that doesn't mean it's not good music I'm also involved in another project with a DJ and a Japanese musician/arranger/composer. If you like Chill Out/Deep House, we have a song coming out on an album that's getting released on the 26th. The album's called Real Ibiza VI and the record label is React. I think it's a U
  14. Good new music? My new album of course.... Newly finished, though it's not out yet. I'll tell you when it goes online. Might put something up on mp3.com soon.
  15. Cheeseman, did you get to meet Markie in Hong Kong? Perhaps go out for some fondue (spelling?) together?
  16. Generally speaking Japan is reasonably safe from thievery... however two things that will always get stolen are umbrellas and bicycles. I love the sound of rain falling on the roof, except when it's a tin roof and I'm trying to record.... (makes for interesting background filler on playback....)
  17. There's always the possibility that some kind of small thing will be found before too long, planted by the new search team that are soon to arrive to replace the old team that couldn't find anything, and you can bet that no matter how tiny and useless it'll make front page headlines in the mainstream news. Fortunately they are not searching around the Nagano region at this point.
  18. Lipschitz. Some kid in primary school found the name in the Sydney phone book....
  19. Be careful when buying big buck stuff on eBay. I was monitoring the auctions a few months back for a new (not used) 15" G4 1Ghz Powerbook (for non Mac users this is the current top of the line 15" mac laptop). Prices on eBay in the states are way cheaper than getting it from the shop or auctions here. Only buy from power sellers and definitely have contact with them beforehand. I wrote to one seller asking if he'd ship to Japan and he wrote back saying - 'I'm NOT selling this item'. Turned out someone had somehow used his eBay ID and password, and had put the item up for auction. He t

They'd never do it cos they wouldn't want to risk cancer or future birth defects from all the depleted uranium that's now going to be hanging around there for the next few million years. oops, that's probably off topic also...
  21. Someone I know fought the renewal fee as (I think) legally you don't have to pay it. He never did, maybe he got a lawyer or something. Of course it stuffs up any any goodwill relationship with the landlords cos they get really pissed..... but he stayed in the same place for several more years before leaving the country, since it seems they can't kick you out for not paying.
  22. Yep, I was surprised at the second one - seemed just as intense..... Usually only get those ones in single doses.
