  1. um...can't remember the details now...there r sum numbers that r automatically charged to your phone account, a bit like calling a phone sex number i suppose. not that i would know.
  2. i would take them out to a field sumwhere...then go to work on them with a bat...or maybe my ninja moves. of course, that's only what I would do...it's 7 o'clock at night and i've just woke up.u could always plant them...u know, give them the gift of life.
  3. yeh don't ring back. this is an old scam, being going for a coupla years now.
  4. ah ishihara...what can i say that hasn't been said? I wish he would stop accusing me ( and every other foreigner in this country) tho of 1) living like an animal 2) having no ethics 3) inciting riots 4) rape 5) murder 6) stealing 7) crime in general 8) the list goes on and on.... I know he's just a blowhard who likes to wind up the foriegners - we're an easy target since none of us can vote - but man, he gets me down sumtimes. it's like in "bowling for cloumbine" where sum guy talking about singling out the minorities and using them for political gain. fear of the blac
  5. this season will be my first up in Hokkaido. stoked, stoked, STOKED!!!!!
  6. whoa, we're been hunted down like dogs...but seriously i read on CNN that u had to be sharing a huge amount (sumthing like hundreds of files) to make the list. plus they're only targetting people within the US at the moment. Wonder when they'll start up in japan... " title="" src="graemlins/cry.gif" />
  7. hey jared, had a chat with my wife about it (she's japanese) but she said in the case of surgery and other major claims, there are some private companies whose policy's will cover u for sum of the 30%, not all of it but you'll be out of luck for smaller things like colds and what not. There are ten million japanese companies - my wife's insurance company is Kampo. hope that helps,
  8. Video night in Kathmandu by Pico Iyer - about the impact of toursim in asia. The naked and the dead by Norman Mailer - a novel about the pacific war. just bumping this thread back up to the top with what I've been reading lately. Interesting to see what people are reading - giving me ideas on what to read next. = ) Am i like the only person who reads 2 books at the same time???
  9. whoa, i don't have anything permenant but i get temporary tinitus really easy now. just listening to head phones will give it to me for about 10 mins but after a rave, i'll be hearing it for a day or 2. been stuffing my ears with wet toilet paper at parties for the last five years too. maybe that's helped. ears tho, definately sumthing worth looking after. sad to hear u got it permanently mika, not trying to sound stupid here, what is it like? do u get used to it? i wanna know cos it scares the crap out of me.
  10. i agree with ocean, there's definately chinese restaurants that r run by zainichi chinese. 10 years ago i walked into a ramen place in ikebukuro with a chinese guy i met at the hostel. He speaks mandarin to the cook and cook starts speaking back to him. totally blown away for like 5 seconds. anyway, they exist. too bad the food's not much like real chinese food despite the many claims of "honkaku aji".
  11. this was too funny not to share. http://www.rathergood.com/gaybar/ enjoy!!!
  12. well, the seasons coming to an end and i was thinking of somthing we could all talk about. I read a thread a few days ago talking about the "legality" of kazaa and other p2p networks. lo and behold i found this article at Time. http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1101030505-447204,00.html just out of curiosity, how many people would use a service like pressplay over downloading thru kazaa?
  13. in matsumoto? i guess i must have lucked out or maybe it's cos u actually live in a real city.
  14. u guys should move to nagano, i was there for 3 years and i didn't see a single gokkkiburi.
  15. nope, no debt, don't even have a credit card.
  16. here's the 411 guys, it's legal for these vans to cruise around with their megaphones on officially from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm. i got to work at 8.00 this morning and yep, at exactly 8, it all started. Could have set my watch to it. gotta luv the rigid nature of japan sumtimes, anyway, it'll all be over in a week or so.
  17. haven't posted in ages but it's good to see this thread still hanging in there. hey ocean - glad to see kazaa lite's working out for ya. know what u mean about the thievery, man, just smile at the irony and roll with it = ). as for what i'm listening to now Zwan- honestly Get up kids - close to me (cure cover) The waifs - london still ben lee - cigarettes will kill you wild swans - love will tear us apart (another cover) what do u think of Billy Corgan's new band - Zwan? is the bassist totally hot or what?
  18. i'm guessing u used a search engine like google to find the kazaa lite site. The one with all the pop-ups and no kazaa-lite is a fake. Ironic how people who spam/sponge ads will use any opportunity to do it. This is my major beef with kazaa (and others like real player ) and it's deception in giving u software u don't want, didn't ask for and in most cases don't even know about cos it's bundled with what u want and then hidden in the user agreement. Not illegal but who reads the 10 page agreement anyway? on top of that using the hardware that u paid for without ur knowledge to communicate abou
  19. hey ocean, i remember installing the original kazaa many moons ago. I remember having to re-write my host file to kill the pop-ups, messing with regedit and some other things i can't omoidasu right now. maybe it's because i don't like the idea of sumbody else using my own computers resources to spy on me that makes me loathe kazaa(but not kazaa-lite and the nice german people who developed it). i'm pretty sure what scumware says is true. The pc's at school have evil GAINtrickler on and there's lotsa hijacking pop-ups there that i don't get at home.
  20. I test drove one of those about 2 years ago when i hijacked one off a japanese guy. Pretty fun to have around when the resorts r closed, especially if u skate. BTW thats the first one i've seen with a leash. the one i tried didn't have the metal edged mini ski on the bottom and it rode like a skateboard so i think it'd be pretty pointless to have a leash on it. Is it a possibility that u can carve on that little ski and that's why u have a leash?
  21. a shattered collarbone and 2 broken ribs done while fence jumping.one day i spot a decent place with a nice drop after it and go for it, too bad there was a guy standing on the other side and i had to bail to avoid slicing his head off, hit into the fence and got catapulted over slamming my shoulder into the back of the guy's ski's. only boarded 12 times since then. Not bitter about the whole thing tho but i would like my confidence back.
  22. Hey guys, just wondering what everbody thinks about the tama-chan/juuminhyou thing. it's been on my mind alot recently cos i'm prolly gonna get married in july. Are u married guys/girls listed as the head of the household? The major beef for me is that if i have a kid and say, my wife dies, since i'm not listed in the juuminhyou as the kid's father, what happens then? i lose my spouse visa and get shipped overseas, meanwhile my kid gets put into welfare? Can anybody out there re-assure me that sumthing like this can't happen cos it's prolly my biggest worry about staying in japan longterm
  23. have u ever tried putting a potato chip on the BBQ? just watch the grease bubble out, it's amazing how much grease they can squeeze into one chip. it's like the chip is fat suspended in starch. sad to say, it doesn't stop me from eating them tho. hey amandanism - indo mee...that stuff is awesum, the king of instant noodles.
