  1. on a slight tangent here, a business with no purpose I can think of would be real estate agents. What exactly do these people for their customers in order to get a whole month's rent? Like WTF?
  2. I'm calling rabbits on this one too. Altho I did see a fox once on the lift(I was on the lift, not the fox).
  3. hey beginner, there's a bus that leaves from across the road from ikebukuro station. it takes 3 or so hours to get to nagano. U can buy the bus tickets from inside the station. sorry, i can't remember how much they cost but i think it was sumthing like 4000 yen. hope that helps ya.
  4. had one, gave it away to a friend. Found a protec one for 5500 yen at alpen and am using that one now. I know not many j-peeps use them but i think it's good to have in all conditions but especially if u're gonna be riding the half-pipe. picture messing up 1 metre above the lip and then falling onto the hard ice tranny below u and i think u'll agree.
  5. Quote: The AET experience ranges from hell to heaven on earth. yep, totally agree with u there. Quote: Imagine being the Hakuba AET or Niseko AET. Hey, IS there a Hakuba or Niseko AET??? yes there are ALt positions for both. The Niseko one is a JET position and the Hakuba one is done thru an Eikaiwa called A to Z. And yes, it would be the sweetest job on earth cos u get free season passes .
  6. i find frontside 3's r easier for me, maybe cos i can wind up more for them. I can't even pull off a backside 3
  7. just pretend it's not there...runaway snowboard? what run away snowboard? This seems to be the prevailing attitude in japan. don't get involved and nobody will blame u. blame avoidance...blame avoidance...i've seen a few runaway boards here and there. one hit my friend. The owner came down and tried to laugh it off. he was okay about it when he should have been really pissed. leases are fashion accessories here in japan when they should be required. man, i mean, i get told to put my high back down everytime i get on the lift, how much more effort can it be to enforce leashes on the
  8. Quote: I thought China has always been like that. Especially after Tiannanmen tho - notice how an anti-japanese protest gets state news coverage, an anti-govt protest on the other hand, and the tanks roll out. Not to defend the japanese guys, but i think the numbers (400 guys/500 girls) are a little exagerated. Plus, the thing with the date being on the anniversary of Japan's invasion to purposely slight China's honour. hmmm.... It's true that the japanese side involved went to another country and broke her laws. They should be punished for that. On the other hand, the whole issue
  9. anything from xinhua is always blown out of proportion with lotsa party rhetoric thrown in, which is why any educated chinese person doesn't read it. it's just china blowing her horn, whipping up a fervor so the average dude in the street, who is still a peasant and hasn't benefitted from the 8% growth rate, doesn't think so much about why his stomach is empty. i guess like the university show(where some japanese students/staff hung genital effigies from between their legs) incident, it's an indicator of the rising nationalism in asia. pretty disturbing really.
  10. speaking Of louis vuitton bags... http://japan.box.sk//newsread.php?newsid=3900
  11. man, i had a lot of good times there. I saw PVd there for the first time too. it's sad to see it go, maybe it's just a ploy to get everybody's attention again.
  12. siren - nah, u wouldn't. The high school girls i teach are about as attractive as my old boots. they wear way too much eye liner and wear their uniforms until they're crusty(i.e. they never wash them )
  13. hey, if u need to compare prices, use www.kakaku.com - it has a listing of pc shops japan wide and prices for all their stuff.
  14. off to Nanae, a plac ejust north of hakodate - only one run is open and it's manmade snow
  15. if you're not going by car, take the local train( or the shink if u've got money to burn) to Nagano city. Then go out of the main exit, there is a line of bus stops right in front. Most of those go to hakuba but i think one of them goes to Shigakogen where Yakibitaiyama is located. You have to go across the street to buy the tickets. If you're driving, take route 18 (or the jyoushin expressway if u got the cash) to nagano city, then onto nakano(i think! sorry, I7m not much help) and from there just follow the signs. The road up to shiga is a windy, slippery one and thus not much fun to d
  16. isn't it interesting that there's no murder charge. I'm like, WTF!?!?!?!?!?!
  17. This must be sum kind of lash-back at the oz press. it made me laugh out loud even tho i'm an australian myself.
  18. the darkness - anything like electric six? i thought that gay bar song was awesome
  19. it's oh so random isn't it? getting stopped by the cops. I had a mate who got stopped for absolutely nothing and had to go in to the cop shop the next day with his employer to say he was, in fact, not a naughty gaijin. many hours wasted and everything about him investigated. I, on the other had, went through one of those flashing red traffic lights. The old man took my name and address and then let me go when he could just as well have fined me. Quote: only 25% of Japanese still have confidence in the police. - would have thought it was lower than that
