Really sorry about the delay - lots of speculation as to my fate appearing here...thanks for the concern! Anyway, the story isn't perhaps as exciting as it could have been. I did go to the police that night - with my gaijin card, not my passport. They were actually very friendly and explained that there had been a robbery the night before and that they were asking to see ID of quite a few people. When I explained to them about the passport/gaijin card thing, they said they meant the gaijin card but couldnt communicate well enough with me, and passport is the word I heard , the ea

I was out jogging last night along a deserted country road (my usual route), police were there and stopped me - asking for my passport! While I was jogging for christs sake! When I said I didnt have it they said I should have it with me wherever I am (!) and that there had been some reports about some suspicious looking foreigner (!!) They demanded I go to the police station tonight with my passport. Will report again tomorrow

5 weeks - that would almost be too long! I will be out of Japan for just under 3 weeks in August.

Thanks. RIght now I have small breakfast, small lunch and (smaller than usual) dinner. = always hungry! Then going out for my nightly jog. Would be great to know how much calories I use in a day doing nothing.
