  1. Oh yes they said straight away it sounded like the battery might be faulty and that it should last much longer than it was.
  2. Support were very helpful. Surprisingly so actually. I called them up and they sent someone over with a new battery the next day. This one seems to be fine. So I'm very pleased with that.
  3. No, I turn it off (shutdown) - not just put it to hibernate....
  4. Thanks. What do laptops use the battery for then when it's turned off? (Probably a question!)
  5. Haha yes. It's my "backup" machine I take with me when I'm out and about so not on every day so that explains that. I just want to know if this is normal or not.
  6. Hi there I have a fairly new (2 months) laptop and really pleased with it apart from one thing. If I don't use the computer for about a week, the battery seems to drain away and I need to plug it in. Is that normal? I would have thought it would last longer than just a week unused, but not sure if that is normal or not? Any help before I start trying to moan at "support"? Thanks
  7. At the risk of sounding Japanese, I'm interested in the omiyage (food) that you can get at ski resort towns. Are there any good special ones in the main resorts that you know of? I usually like them especially the manju type. Any recommendations?
  8. Thank you for the info. I think 200 is big enough for now. Any more I can use a backup.
  9. Hi frields! I was hoping you might be able to help advise. I'm getting a new computer and this time (THIS TIME!) I want to look after it and organise things better than before. It has 200GB of space on the HDD. But my friend told me it would be a good idea to get a 500GB or so external HDD to use for all my music and videos etc and keep the space on the main HDD clear. Well, I don't have anywhere like 200GB of stuff now (well maybe in the future), but was wondering if that was a good idea. I was after all planning on buying an external one for backups. Is there any advanta
  10. I've seen it 5 times and would happily watch it again and again and again. (I'm a girl, but not a big one)
  11. I started wearing glasses a few years ago, not all the time though - driving, movies, long distance things. Don't mind actually and can't stand the thought of contact lenses.
  12. I have been told that foreigners don't have umami, and so I can't know and the above is obviously rubbish.
  13. Gala Yuzawa. So easy to get to, Japanese friends too me one weekend and it was BUSY!
  14. He will surely have skied down there in a fine suit though, as you do.
  15. Got the new Coldplay album last night and given it a few listens. Like it.
  16. Every time I get one of those calls, the number gets put on my blacklist so they can't come through.
  17. I'm not that remote but my friend lives in Mie ken in a place that has just 15 houses and no shops. It's a 20 minute drive to the nearest town and even that is small.
  18. I know a place where there are a few sakura trees and hardly anyone under them with those blue sheets. It is a closely held secret. I'm really not into the huge crowds you get in the big parks all at once, though it sure is an experience.
  19. I saw Die Hard 4 last night. It was actually good fun, I really enjoyed it.
  20. Very nice to look at but overpriced and under-specced.
  21. I don't get that... does the guy not have family, friends, colleagues who will tell him what a clown he looks?
  22. Get her to send a pic My parents are both fine, not yet in their 60s
