  1. Tons! You might want to check and vote in this one http://www.snowjapanforums.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/280382/1.html
  2. I dont always want to eat at an expensive place. Sometimes a good down to earth good value meal is called upon. But I still expect some level of service.
  3. There have been a few incidents I believe, nothing major. That 100m was amazing, I will be watching his 200.
  4. There is at least 2 of you Go Native (Mrs Lin). I dont watch much myself either, but definitely more than a second.
  5. this: Was it real? Was it faked? Does it matter? Chinese netizens are debating the computer simulated special effects used for one of high points of the Olympic opening ceremony, the footprints of fire that "stepped" from Tiananmen Square to the Bird's Nest stadium. Although the procession of fireworks actually took place, it was deemed too difficult and dangerous to film, so billions of viewers were treated instead to a computer-generated film of what it might look like. Many of those watching were unaware that the effect was expensively "faked" until the Beijing Times reported
  6. Another recommendation for Wall E - it is such a good movie, I think Pixars best so far. Pulling all the right strings.
  7. 3 billion People watching around the world. 204 Flag bearers. 1 Flag bearers making a political statement. 90 'International dignitaries'. 30 Wheelchairs for spectators. 9,000 Members of the People's Liberation Army hitting golden drum caskets on the stadium floor. 1 Number of seconds before the first collective 'oooooh!' 4 Hours the show lasted. 2,488 Volunteers in the stadium. 91,000 Other people in the stadium. 26 Waiting ambulances. 62.5 The claimed percentage of the humidity. 2 The number of eyeballs I've got that I swear were sweating.
  8. I am telling at least 5 people a day that they are great. They look at me like I'm mad, but I feel compelled to.
  9. Ah, ha! So, that Chinese S.W.A.T. team we caught ridin' dirty on Segways earlier this week actually had a reason to be carrying on like they were -- they were performing anti-terrorist drills in preparation for security during the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Comically enough, the drill was said to be one of "rapid deployment," though we aren't told how many spills were taken when officers tried to actually maneuver one of these things around, aim at a target, pull a brown bag down around their head and keep it from spontaneously reversing. Just one question guys: what's with the tiny guns?
  10. Many ramen shop staff.chefs will hardly be able to explain the ingredients in English.
  11. I use Firefox (and post on here without a problem).
  12. ten pin bowling Was that a massive fad?! I still quite like it actually. Those other fads are also considerably cheaper to do than skiing (well, perhaps not golf).
  13. Don't know about changes but a group of friends went over there for a few days. They really liked it, said it was really suited to their group (family, beginners), good snow.
  14. No probles with peripherals here. I recall reading problems at the beginning - surely to be expected to a certain degree - but not now. Quote: machines being sold that weren't up to the task of running Vista That's hardly Vistas fault is it?
  15. I am swimming a lot of late. I feel the 'high' from it is much better than an equivalent jogging one (well a jogging one doesn't exist with me). Swimming just feels good.
  16. I wonder what % of the "first resort in Japan" response would be a Hokkaido resort for people here in HK. Must be very high. Would be interesting to see how it changes as well..
