How did you come up with your Nickname?

The area where I grew up, and also the name of my lady (though spelt different) -
Does anyone here still use floppy disks. My new machine doesn't even have a floppy drive and I have lots of old discs with mostly unused data on them but I'm wondering what to do with them. Spend a long long time going through them on my old PC and putting the data I want on CD/DVD or just bin the lot in an act of frustration. Many retailers aren't selling them now. I wonder when it will be that you cant really find a player or use them at all.

I see. Data for Feb would be interesting things really seem to be heating up there this last week. -
Do you have Heroes in Japan yet? Excellent series (well the 11 I have seen so far).

Apocalypto - didn't rate it myself, then again not really the kind of movie that usually interests me. Now, Die Hard 4 is a different story

Looks like some Doomsday scenario map (not too far from the truth I suppose!) Nice work soubriquet. Curious that Sado off the coast of Niigata is green. -
Are you a Snow Snob?
lin replied to cal's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
I spend a lot of cash for my fix, I want good snow for that. Not the resort or hotels or anyone elses fault. I do feel sorry for them all though they must be losing a lot of business, especially for this month and April.. can't see that that many people wanting to splash out from now on. -

Nice work soubs. I'm a bit surprised to see that last year wasn't especially cold considering the snow. -

While we were in Hakuba we heard a few different stories about which resort in the valley usually has the most snow (not particularly this season). Either Goryu or Tsugaike. I would have thought it were Tsugaike (higher up and to the north), but is there any truth to either of them usually getting more? Thanks

My friends and I when we were going from Hakuba to Nagano a few weeks back. We were on that road about 20km out of Hakuba and there were some small signposts on roadlights that said Hakuba 47 and showed a U-turn sign. Seemed a bit of a silly thing to have up there. Though I suppose some people might see the sign and suddenly remember they wanted to go to Hakuba 47 so U-turn to go back there

All I recall is it was some gaishikei company - we didn't get a name.
