  1. Search JTB seasons passes there is no early discount. You dowload the form send it away with picture pay when they get it at 7/11 then they send you your pass or something like that. The Shiga Happo pass can be bought at either resort and I dont think that you can do it online. Someone can however buy it for you as lon as they have 2 passport sized photos of you. You then pick it up once you arrive at the resort. But dont have someone buy the pass at Shiga then show up at Happo first you wont get your pass.
  2. Right now the Japanese government needs to control spending verses GDP period. Wastefull spending will not help anyone living in Japan. The lucky part about the Japanese debt is that it is mostly owned by the Japanese bond holders. Since Ski you seem to know so much about this. What is the ridership goal per year for this line. Where is the profit margin. This isnt Tokyo to Osaka with more that 40000000 people living nearby
  3. Sapporo to Tokyo will not equal a profit. Sapporo to Tokyo will equal a very low used service that will again put the burden on the tax payers.
  4. Quote: Wonder what the cost would be? Too Much money. Japan is spending double it's GDP right now. Taxes or the cost for the trip will have to be high.
  5. For teams yes for individuals that might play in this area no.
  6. The question is... Is there anyone that plays cricket in the nagano matsumoto area?
  7. Anyone play in Nagano or Matsumoto area?
  8. The happo shiga kogen pass is about 80000 yen. Good to great value is the JTB if you put that together with the early bird happo weekday pass for 43000 yen you get great value.
  9. 100000 yen has the spending power of 1000 bucks in Japan. Maybe I shouldve made that point. A ski resort can not change their prices based upon the exchange rate. The best passes in Japan are the lottery passes they give you so much. The Jtb pass is quite good it gives you 4 resorts for 50000 yen.
  10. a 1000 bucks for a pass isnt all that bad. 20 bucks a day if you only do 50 days. There are better passes out there in Japan but I really dont think that this is a bad deal.
  11. That pass price is a bit expensive when compared to other areas in Japan but! If you check the North American ski pass prices it is on par or cheaper. Search this site for info in North america. skiresortguide
  12. Reading a book is ok but it wont prepare you for the panic button. There will be courses in Europe in English for sure.
  13. Seriously though take an avalanche course there are good ones in Europe. That will give you a slight understanding about the risks involved. A plan b needs to be worked out on the way up not on the way down. The way down leads you to safe zones of safish to safer zones. A plan b on the way down will amount to hiking back up.
  14. How a pro or high level rider rides a bigline is much different then how a normal advanced rider would ride a bigline. Stay on the ridges the center of the slope is where the sluff or slide is going to go. If you are in the middle keep an eye out behind you. You arent a pro with a radio in your helmut telling you about a slide. Dont push it on line you dont know. Understand your limits and keep within them. It is very rare that I will go beyond 95% of my limit on an exposed Bigline. Tomahawking is not fun at all it will scare you every time.
  15. The tourism and adventure sports business will always have this problem. A rafting company in Minakami got busted using illegal staff after a rafter drowned. The company pretty much died that day and the owner pulled a runner. Imagine what will happen at a ski resort if an illegal staff member has a serious car accient? It is bound to happen at some point.
  16. As an American the hardest part is going to be the VISA. Creekboy there is only one operation in Hakuba that would even consider sponsering an American. It is easier and much cheaper to deal with people on working holiday Visas than to sponser people. So bringing up the Hakuba card is a non starter really. http://tokyo.usembassy.gov/e/acs/tacs-7108b.html
  17. I edited that list of yours this should make 25 kilos now. Snow tools your lodge should have. First aid kits are everywhere and anywhere on vacation. Thermals who cares if you stink you are going to shower after riding. 1 x snowboard bag (filled with) 2 x snowboard 1 x bindings 1 x snowboard boots 4 x socks 1 x thermal sets (top & bottom) 1 x helmet 2 x goggle (sunny & cloudy) 1 x gloves 1 x fleece 1 x snowpants 1 x snowjacket 1 x shovel + probe 0 x snowboard tool, edge tool and quick wax 1 x small suitcase (filled with) 1 x jeans 2
  18. Quote: Its full of these bunnies from the jungle trying to rob all the visitors. How is that above comment not racist?
  19. Japan was clearly the better team last night. The old problems though keeping popping up though. The mid field is quite good but Japan lacks a valid striker or winger. They also dont know how to play with a lead in the last 10 minutes. Too many panick attacks and not enough movement. Japan though has a good chance to move through now. Cameroon shot itself in the foot with no energy until the last 20 minutes.
  20. You can debate the benefits of the property tax increase and loss of income and other taxes too. Case in point. A person from Canada buys a place in let’s say Myoko. The person conducts all his sales online then pays the income tax in Canada. That persons various customers use the local services etc. So the local economy gets a bit of actionã€maybe let’s say a few jobs. (If those jobs even go to actual locals and not part time people from abroad) From a residents point of view do they feel that it is fair? Will asking people to pay 200 to 500 dollars extra a year really effect inves
