  1. I just woke up (working night shift) and saw the news on theaustralian website. just out of interest which lodge was he staying at ? My heart goes out to all involved in this and least now his family can bring him home.
  2. I feel safer in a Asian city then what I would in an American or British one. That being said, you still have to be aware of your surroundings and not act stupid. I travel alone all of the time (but I am also a large male) Be mindful of who you hook up with during your travels. Long story, short japan is safe.
  3. I brought myself a playstation grill (ps3) for my birthday present the other day (so far I am happy with it) got some games and I even installed Linux on it
  4. Correct me if I am wrong but don't the speed cameras have to also take a picture of who is driving the car when they take a snap ? (lucky they haven't worked out how much a cash cow speed cameras can be like in Victoria) I had a copper bail me up at new Chitose airport. (checking up on trip details etc)

  6. Well I know there is a company here that deals with covering skiers and boarders and travel insurance covers it (CHECK YOUR POLICY cause some charge extra for snow sports) I was covered for my trip to japan (extra $30 medical only with my plane ticket)
  7. it would be to hard for the insurance company's to prove if the policy holder is wearing a helmet or not
  8. I am in the wear a helmet camp but I have to question how one would protect the neck area ? It is very sad. One trick that beginners should learn (well boarders at least) is 'how to fall' and what to do when you feel things are about to go pear-shape. I was taught this in rock climbing and so far no broken bones. I saw some yahoo on TV saying that helmets restrict your view and your hearing is impaired (dosen't matter to me my hearing is not the greatest and odds are I am unable to hear any impending doom)
  9. I was at that pub on my trip back in Dec... Good food and good staff. <rant> It makes me angry when some toss pot (dosen't matter where they come from) gets very angry and violent. The night life in melbourne and sydney is getting the point that you rather stay at home The thing is they don't care. hell I don't think they even remember it. </rant>
  10. I was taught how to fall when I was rock climbing.. And I am not a small person. The thing I learn was the smaller the person the more it hurts. At Australian resorts I have people going into me and I had to stop or fall over to avoid some twit who sits out of the middle of a run. Next time I go I just have to invest in a helmet I even had some chick run over my fingers with her skis as I was getting up once. But in answer to your question. I stay

When I first picked up the board and started riding a couple of years back I got a couple of group lessons (with my lift pass at a unnamed resort in OZ) and the instructors where useless. But as I stated in my earlier post the private lesson I got in NZ was great! In the end if you get a good instructor then you will learn a lot (I thin

  16. I know this is a forum for japan snow but but I put my 2 bob in. When I went to Cornet peak in NZ back in june they closed the resort on the first day I was there. So I just used the pass I could not use and for a extra $30 (nz I think) I got a 1 hour private lesson. And it was totaly worth it !!
