I feel sorry for the people who have sleeping problem. I can sleep anywhere, anytime.

In my case, abdominal breathing always makes me sleepy. I learned how to breath in and out deeply through my nose from Yoga. It feels so good.

yeah I woke up at 6ish this morning too. I decided that actually getting up is better than trying to stay in bed and sleep and then feeling like shit when I cant. oh well at least the Olympics are on to keep me amused....that and my cat who insists on annoying me by sleeping on my chest grrrrrrr \:D

I have been trying to find justification recently for only 4 hours sleep per night. Many very famous and smart people have needed only short sleeps. I tried it and it destroyed me. Sometimes I wish I only needs 4 hours rest. I would be up at 4am each day and by the time the sun came up I would have lived a multitude of experiences. It would be like having two days in one and would allow so much more living outside of the daily time at work. This topic has been well discussed on the forum. At this stage I cant find any healthy way to get by on 4 hours sleep each night. I just have to face the fact that I want to do more with my daily life than time will permit:

- work and earn money

- do the necessary train commute

- do exercise

- cook good food

- eat the good food

- read for enjoyment

- do some study/research (I have lost of study to do)

- meditate, or at least sit with a completely empty mind for 30 minutes each morning and night,

- spend some time outside in nature,

- practice the piano,

- get 8 hours sleep

I have not even mentioned doing mundane life admin tasks, let alone having a sex life or time to socialise. It is impossible.

In a way not being able to sleep would be a blessing. I would love to wake up at 4am charged and ready to go for the day.

Mr Britain,

Are you learning piano? way cool. Are you renting a piano at your place?

Melatonin helps me with jetlag. I've been thinking about taking it lately. For some reason I've found myself on the graveyard shift the past few weeks, while working on a project on my computer - usually going to sleep sometime after dawn. I guess I like the undisturbing nite hours, however I also like being awake during normal daylight hours, and I've been trying to change my habits back to normal, so far to no avail. Last nite I was determined to get an early night cos I really wanted to go out early and paint, so I took a relatively early nite at 2am, but do you think I could sleep? Nope. I got up and wrote in my journal for an hour. That usually gets me back to sleep, but nope, not this time. So I did a bodyrolling workout (stretching/rolling on a small ball) which usually relaxes me. It did, but still couldn't sleep. Dawn was creeping in, so I thought I may as well pack all my paints in case I was able to able to muster up enough energy to go out painting early without having slept. Ha! no way. I conked out around 7am, woke up at 1.30pm. I would probably do well travelling to Europe right now, I wouldn't get any jet lag... lol.gif

At any rate, now it's too windy to paint. \:\( I'll probably dig out the melatonin tonite, since I'm not likely to be going to Europe in the next few months.....

Dont we all DB, dont we all, but just think in your grand plan, in 8 years the work and earn money will be gone, replaced by invest and earn money and you will be rid of the big chunk of time wasting - work.
Free at last, free at last, thank god almighty Im free at last......

Well, that's about the most enthusiastic thing anyone has said about me in ay length of time. Way cool indeed. ;\)

I should have said keyboard, not piano. remember a while back I was asking about basic MIDI keyboards? Well I got one plus some piano tuition software, I am not actually taking any proper lessons. I suppose i don't actually aim at becoming a piano player, I just want to be able to tap out tunes and understand musical structure.
