I might have read somewhere they originated in Turkey (could be wrong) but what a ridiculous waste. Suits without the ties would be quite comfy actually as you wouldn't need to botton that top botton or mess around with the cloth hanging from your neck. Ties are the problem, not the suits. I was looking at some yesterday - 15 man (on sale from 18 man!) for a nice looking black Armarni suit. I'm sure the same back home would be not much more than half that. Milan is a wonderful city where there is no end of high fashion on offer. Luckily he helped us out with bespoken else god forbid we would have assumed an off the rack purchase.
