Sailor-Boy 0
Hey guys at SJ. well a friend of mine went over to canada last year and was telling me how he would get trashed off 4 beers and whatnot due to the higher altitude / lower atmosphere pressure. well, I live at sealevel and during Xmas/NewYears time I will be off to Niseko, snowboarding. I was wondering if this is true, and if I would experience it by drinking 1. at village level and 2. up on the peak/higher runs. Also, anyone with this kind of experience please share your good-times. Thanks! SB
SerreChe 2
I love those atypical questions 1. No 2. No I suspect a mix of alcohol + something else for your buddy. How high could he possibly have been in Canada?
bushpig 0
remember sailor boy, for the most part pimples don't really stand out that much higher than the surrounding surface

dizzy 0
the top chair at niseko is 800m or whatever. you don't feel the alcohol altitude change until about 2800m. that's why people who move to the rockies/sierra's in NA get the carborator adjusted. yes, when i first moved to colorado from flat chicago i got drunk easier. but that only lasts a day or three then your body adjusts. damian 0
sweet jesus, this has got to stop.
quattro 1
ein beer bite
YellowSnow 0
But if you drink in the onsen the alcohol circulates through your body faster, you will get a buzz and all hot. So you have to roll around naked in the snow.
skidaisuki 0
Sailor-Boy: Niseko is far too low for you to feel the effects of altitude, whether drunk or otherwise. You might feel the effects of Aussies 'getting high' though
thursday 1
You will have to drink a lot. Lots. Then you will not make it down to the toilets in time. And another note about drinking in the onsen. Don't pee in it OK.

YellowSnow 0
I never Pee in the Onsen. I have to save it for making YellowSnow.
Sailor-Boy 0
ok guys, thanks a lot. CAN'T WAIT! ohh, Japanese food and beer! Are there a lot of seafood dishes served in Hirafu village? crabs, etc? (since its Hokkaido) Also, is the Christmas celebration big in Hirafu?
thursday 1
Christmas is celebrated in Niseko EXACTLY like it is in Australia. You'd hardly know the difference. Actually you'd find it quite hard to get crabs in Hirafu. The Alpen might have some. If you do a night in Sapporo, there's plenty to be had there. I once had 4 snow crabs in obe sitting. woywoy 0
God am I glad that I am not going to Niseko ever ever again.

fb_steve 0
You can get crabs in Niseko, dad ate a hairy crab the size of a dinner plate back in the 03/04 season so there is bound to be more now. What a strange thread btw, alcohol tollerance to crabs.
woywoy 0
>Quote: stevo "You can get crabs in Niseko" ... You can get anything in Niseko these days, including STDs it seems! I hope you are cured of the crabs now stevo.
fb_steve 0
hahaha, wow in that context what i said before sounds terrible! luckily i don't eat crabs myself!
thursday 1
maybe a prolonged dip in the onsen would help.
yamayamayama 2
We should do a drinking beer at different altitudes experiment.
panhead_pete 27
When I moved to Colorado from the Queensland coast I got a lot drunker. But I think it might have been meeting a new friend Mr Jagiermister that got me in trouble.
gnarly-dude 1
Once had 4 beers while out boarding. Japanese friends were so I joined in. Bad idea. Apart from being dangerous drunk snowboarding I felt real bad.
