Considering the 'ring of fire' (no, not the after effects of a curry!) is interconnected, hopefully it won't quake, or something worse, in the near or distant future. BillTheBinMan 0
I'm planning on going down there. I'll be in Oz for 4 weeks or so, hoping to hop down to NZ for a week of that for some action.

Though, good pure new wool clothes like jackets, vests, etc are very reasonably priced. NZ is cheaper for holidaying because of the deals and exchange rates.
jared 0
Most likely whistler. Any other reccomendations. Need to be able to get jobs and have a good park.
Fattwins 0
WB has a crazy park. Big White has a crazy park also. Fernie has a pretty good park too but no pipe this year. There is always the back water likes of kicking horse which has as much terrain as whistler and tons of BC.

Yep, a smallish group - all skiers so far. Hope to combine a bit of track walking in there too, particularly if the snow/weather is shite for skiing. That reminds me - I REALLY gotta get fit. js 0
Have been back about a week now from an NZ ski/bushwalk holiday. Mt Ruapehu (North Island) Ski Report: Weather: Blue sky and hot for the entire week. Turoa Field: Steep and icy with lots of rocks to dodge - hard to pick a decent continuous route without stopping. Whakapapa Field: Pretty good. 4/5ths of the resort had firm packed snow - really good edge holding. Nice steep bits and chutes to test. The warm days saw bits of rocks and lumps of snow falling from the cliffs (just make it all more interesting). They hadn't had snow for two weeks and got a week of bad storms before we got there, so the 'Great Snow Goddess' really smiled upon us. (The day we departed it started to rain!) In a good season, Whakapapa would really go-off. Bushwalking: Excellent - did part of the Tongariro Crossing Walk and the Tama Lakes Track. Great scenery and interesting volcanic activity. Would definitely go back. SZ.

js 0
Simba & LX, here is the itemised final cost of our trip to NZ: A. (8) Nights self contained accommodation @ ‘Discovery Lodge’, Tongariro = $434.30p/p (Hut sleeps six, but more comfortable with four) See: http://www.discovery.net.nz/ B. Airfares Sydney to Auckland = $546.88 C. Travel Insurance (Don't leave home without it!) = $90.00 D. Car Hire (9 days x 3 people) = $198p/p TOTAL = $1,270 I'd definitely stay at D-Lodge again - it is central to everything and has great views of the three volcanoes. One hint for self-contained accomm though - buy your groceries in Auckland. We bought a weeks supply because the car hire bloke said it is MUCH cheaper than purchasing items in the smaller towns - he was spot on too! If you need further info - please ask. (Good Thai restaurant in Taupo!) Happy Holidaying.
