DumbStick 13
I have a balcony question for everyone with a balcony. How many cm actual space do you have? Width wise, not length.
Tubby Beaver 209
I'd hazard a guess that mines is just under a metre wide.......maybe about 75cms?!
DumbStick 13
Thanks Tubby I suppose that really belonged here, so I have taken that conversation over there http://www.snowjapanforums.com/index.php/topic/22628-the-cost-of-owning-a-house/page__pid__476678__st__300#entry476678
Go Native 70
Well it's ****ing hot here. Melbourne is expecting to have 10 days straight with temps exceeding 30 degrees. That will be an all time record for March. This at the tail end of the hottest summer Australia has ever experienced. I for one have had enough!!!
snowdude 44
Started off frosty first thing this morning again, but quickly warmed up, been really warm here today! Tonight might even be frost free, except from the days we had snow or rain this will be the first time in weeks not to get a frost! Sure is well warm for early March. Having said that the night temps have continued to be below normal even though the days have been above! It is going to be an interesting year of weather!
kokodoko 67
snow is dripping off the roof here in Niseko.. so it must be very warm..
Tubby Beaver 209
It's shorts n tee weather down in Shonan....I can burn my head in this weather if Im not careful
kokodoko 67
Howling gale here in Niseko. hirafu gondola and ace quad on slow. everything else is closed. even hanazono and annapuri.
snowdude 44
One word to describe the weather here today "wild" Extremely strong winds the sort that do damage more like a typhoon. Warm temps but the wind has turned cold very quickly and temps are dropping. Spots of heavy rain bits of icy sleety stuff mixed in sometimes. Very weird as it still feels too warm for anything other than rain.
Tubby Beaver 209
Kanagawa getting covered in some yellow sand from China (allegedly).......it was nice n sunny but has clouded/sanded over....pics from Yokohama are pretty amazing...luckily the Shonan beach area seems to have just missed most of it
muikabochi 208
After that warmth good to see 10+cm of snow on the car this morning. Bit of a surprise that.

onehunga 26
Kanagawa getting covered in some yellow sand from China (allegedly).......it was nice n sunny but has clouded/sanded over....pics from Yokohama are pretty amazing...luckily the Shonan beach area seems to have just missed most of it There is a thin layer of dust over our deck, and everything on it. The car also got covered. It's parked in an underground carpark, but the vents in the walls all face the direction the wind was coming from.
@tokyo 14
Whats this other thing PM2.5?
Tubby Beaver 209
Is that to do with the sand? Today is back being sunny....but a little colder than the last few days
onehunga 26
PM2.5 is a measure of particular matter, ie the things that float around in the air. There are two measurements PM10 and PM2.5. PM10 measures particles between 2.5 and 10 micrometers (from about 25 to 100 times thinner than a human hair). PM2.5 measures small particles that are smaller than 2.5 micrometers (100 times thinner than a human hair). Both PM10 (big) and PM2.5 (small) particles can cause health problems; specifically respiratory health (that's the lungs and airway). Because the PM2.5 travels deeper into the lungs AND because the PM2.5 is made up things that are more toxic (like heavy metals and cancer causing organic compounds), PM2.5 can have worse health effects than the bigger PM10. Japan considers PM2.5 readings of 35 micrograms per cubic meter to be safe and according to the Japan Health Ministry, Measurements of PM2.5, fine airborne particulates that pose the largest health risks, are not likely to rise significantly due to the sandstorms. grungy-gonads 54
I really think you should be spending those two hours preparing future lessons. Or at least 'looking busy' at your desk.
