RobBright 35
Anyone want the remaining bones? But the new signings do sound promising. We'll just have to wait and see. http://www.bbc.co.uk...otball/19179833 It is understood Van Persie was encouraged by the arrivals of Germany forward Lukas Podolski,France striker Olivier Giroud and Spain midfielder Cazorla - to the point where he was open to the idea of staying with or without a new contract. But Wenger pulled him aside shortly before Sunday's friendly victory over Cologne, told him he would be sold if a deal could be reached and informed the Dutchman he was no longer part of his plans. Gutted Van Persie - thought he could get back in only to be told, you're out.
NoFakie 45
If Song doesn't go, him, Wilshere, and Arteta is a great midfield. Big things are expected of Cazorla too. English players get hyped to the heavens, but pre-injury Wilshere really was quality. The Toon have just signed a dm who's shorter than Nagatomo. It'll be good to see him, especially if we get to September 1st without Tiote being sold. As for RvP, the Arse bought their players early in the window this time, not in the last week like last year. His people have had a few weeks to get a deal sorted if he wanted one.

BagOfCrisps 24
I reckon that van persie story is a great big pile of silly bollocks (thought he could get back in only to be told, you're out).

pie-eater 207
Now if Song goes, then it will be "WTF?" Following a week of intense speculation, Arsenal have confirmed the sale of Alex Song to Barcelona for £15m
2pints-mate 0
Spurs lost too.

Guess we have to wait and see who comes in. They're leaving two at a time now! A comic start for Rodgers at Liverpool there. WBA could have had five or six. The Toon looked off the pace and a bit disjointed, but Spurs have good players and a win's a win.

BagOfCrisps 24
City needed to work for their win today, but somehow inevitably got the 3 points in the end. Hope to other teams though.
@tokyo 14
Isnt it Liverpool vs City next weekend, that should be interesting.
grungy-gonads 54
Sunderland played really well there. 1-2 up as well for a while though I didn't think it would last. United go to Everton tonight looking forward to that.
big-will 7
It's a shame United absolutely do not need someone like Kaka, because according to The Daily Mail they have been offered someone like Kaka. Exactly like Kaka, in fact - they've been offered Kaka. Real Madrid are apparently trying to make room in their squad for Luka Modric, and will get rid of the Brazilian to whoever wants him. The paper reports that Real have asked United if they fancy Kaka on a season-long loan, and that Sir Alex Ferguson is 'giving it serious consideration.' They also sneak in the suggestion that Ferguson is 'considering selling Dimitar Berbatov to Sunderland', which would be...interesting.
BagOfCrisps 24
Which headline will it be tonight?_ - van Persie injured, out for 7 months or - van Persie and Rooney overwhelm Everton
brit-gob 9
Isn't Rooney often a bit of a slow starter in the season, possibly due to summer pies and beer. Surprised he hasn't posted in here: http://www.snowjapanforums.com/index.php/topic/21923-summer-pies-beer-thread-2012/

NoFakie 45
Some more good games to finish the week. Well played Everton for the big result! For ManYoo, a bit worrying to see Carrick at CB in the season opener and no DM offering protection. Kagawa looked lively, but the other attacking players were all poor, Rooney in particular. Citeh still looking vulnerable to collectively falling asleep. Mancini may be Italian, but his team isn't very disciplined.
grungy-gonads 54
Rooney was bloody awful, as he can be. Perhaps too many pies. He really isn't consistent enough, and I hope the competition from RVP might have an effect. He can be soooo annoying. Everton putting in a performance and beating us. I don't know the stats but I feel they have a good track record of doing that. Well done to them.
