7-11 2
Bacon. Bacon in Japan basically sucks big time. What's so difficult. Give me a good bit of smoked bacon. Or gammon steak.

Tubby Beaver 209
The closest I've seen is granola type cereal.....although my local supermarket did have a decent sized (and priced) bag of porridge oats

smostyn 1
We found good coffee in Japan, just not at the snow. In Shinjuku we found a segafredo cafe. That was the only place that I saw a manual machine. They even understood what I meant by "double shot." Had a nice creme and all. All of the other places had automatice machines that made some aweful coffee. By the time we got t oHakuba I had resigned myself to drinking drip filtered coffee in the hotel each morning and cans from the vending machines. Next year I will just have to accept that I wont get good coffee for a few weeks.

Better by far than most of the dishwater served up as coffee over there.

muikabochi 208
Bring your oven too because Japan doesn't generally do great big ovens for slow cooking.

klingon 10
Fact: not all coffee in Japan is bad. Come on. Just find the decent stuff, it's not that hard.
grungy-gonads 54
I often wonder what is so difficult about bacon. When I go back to england one of the first things I get stuck into is a bacon sarnie.
Tubby Beaver 209
yeah deffo GG. I think its because the Japanese version is based on the american version of bacon (which we call streaky). The thing is when the Japanese do it, they seem to pre-cook it and it turns all rubbery and ham-like. At least American bacon still tastes good, although I do wish someone would start producing back bacon....its so much better than streaky
Ezorisu 0
Japanese viking breakfast bacon always appears to have been boiled. WTF?!
Tubby Beaver 209
yeah....its definitely more ham-like then!
Ezorisu 0
I guess on the bright side, there are fewer cancer-causing free-radicals since the bacon isn't all brown and crispy.
