JellyBelly 1
There's a restaurant near me I go to about twice a month. Every time I look at the menu. Every time I order exactly the same thing. I just like what I like there too much. It's the same at an Indian restaurant, I always end up with the same. Tell me next time not to bother reading the menu.
muikabochi 208
Top tip - don't bother with the menu. Two places near me I'm the same, always the same. In fact, looking forward to going there tomorrow for some curry with tonkatsu and garlic fried potatoes with ketchup and mayonnaise dip.
thursday 1
Menu. Seasonal offerings? Wine list, special sets. Lots of stuff to look at. And then, "the usual" (pie n chips)
Tubby Beaver 209
I do that a lot. At my favourite place, I wanna try other things but if they turned out to be crap or not as good as my fave then I'd be well mad
pie-eater 207
One of my faves at a local Indian back in Wigan is Balti Garlic Chicken Tikka. I look at the huge menu, don't understand most of it, always comment how it would be great if "I could taste them all" and "try something new".... and then plump for the Balti Garlic Chicken Tikka. thursday 1
You're always about to be pissed in there, hence eyes crossed no?
thursday 1
I love looking at the menus. But then, I go to a lot of places. The winelists are a blast too.
KlingKlang 1
I go to a lot of places too. But I have a place that I go to often and there's really no need to look as I have the same. About wine. Does any place, in the world, not rip you off royally for wine? I don't like getting ripped off big time, so I never really have wine at a restaurant.
brit-gob 9
Wine is good in restaurants when some other sucker is paying. The markup on wine is just madness. I won't be part of it. Good job I prefer beer anyway.
thursday 1
I like some small joints who let you bring your own wine. AND they don't charge corkage Mind you, their food can be a bit hit n miss.
panhead_pete 27
I guess it works the other way too when someone looks at the menu for 15mins to make a decision.
RobBright 35
I rarely have the same food more than once, unless it is the ONLY reason I am going to that place, which is usually Matsuya or Cocoichibanya. If you don't want a menu then just say you don't want one. Problem, and thread, solved. Now wine. Wine. Agreed with Kling-klang, more often than not, an utter ripoff in restaurants. Of course it really depends on the place that you go but usually the out of the way places there were pretty reasonable.
thursday 1
When I lived in the UK, I found that the beers costed a lot more in the pubs than in the supermarkets.
thursday 1
same as here actually.
big-will 7
They do. But the markup on wine is often far more.
thursday 1
How much of a markup would you accept?
grungy-gonads 54
One that doesn't instinctively feel like a rip. Quite simple really.
mitchpee 10
At this one Japanese place called the koko kitchen I always get gyu-don with a a sapporo

Althought not always available at super swanky places, it is nice to go for a Italian taking along a $30 bottle of wine which would cost 3x that in the restaurant.
grungy-gonads 54
Thats good. How does it work then, they charge you something or you just take?
Schneebored 0
They just charge corkage...which is anywhere between $5 and $10.
thursday 1
Afterall, you're using their glasses and corkscrew.
Mintyjulep 0
I'm pretty bad for sticking to one order no matter how many times I go back. Hehe, like delicious chicken at my local chinese restaurant - it says delicious so how can I go wrong!
