Ichihashi (the murderer) has cosmetic surgery

Recommended Posts

Seems that the bloke who murdered the British english teacher a couple of years back has reportedly had some kind of cosmetic surgery.

Thing I don't understand here is - how do they know that? And if they do know that, how come they didn't nab him?

confused

The man hunted in Japan over the murder of a British woman in Tokyo could have had plastic surgery, local reports say.

A man resembling Tatsuya Ichihashi had plastic surgery in Osaka within the past two weeks, say the news reports.

Mr Ichihashi is suspected of killing Lindsay Ann Hawker, 22, from Brandon, near Coventry, in March 2007. Her body was found buried in a tub at his flat.

Ms Hawker's family say they have received no official confirmation of the reports despite repeated attempts.

Police reward

Detectives attended the clinic where the plastic surgery patient had a follow-up appointment, but he failed to arrive, according to the reports, which local police have refused to either confirm or deny.

When Ms Hawker disappeared after giving Mr Ichihashi an English lesson and friends of hers found his phone number in her room, police visited his flat.

Because they saw the poster, and when someone refuses to confirm or deny it, pretty much means someone did.

This really pisses me off - but he's blatantly someone's yakuza bitch now.

They did indeed and he evaded 8 EIGHT policemen when they came to his mansion to take him in for questioning.

Yes 8 cops couldn't catch one man.

Earlier Mr Ichihashi's mother had appeared on television urging her son to turn himself in to police.

'Grateful for efforts'

A Foreign Office spokeswoman said: "We are glad and relieved that the only suspect in this case, Tatsuya Ichihashi, has been found and is now in police custody.

"We are grateful to the Japanese police for their efforts and we remain in close contact with the Hawker family."

A spokesman for the Osaka Prefectural Police said: "We have detained a person in Osaka city who appears to be the suspect in the murder."

Miss Hawker was teaching English in Japan when she went missing on 25 March, 2007. Her body was discovered on the balcony of Mr Ichihashi's flat.

Mr Ichihashi is thought to have recently had plastic surgery to change his appearance.

Yeah, but smugness aside, that would be a serious strike against him. They consider the social impact and gravity of the crime (not just the crime itself) when considering capital punishment in Japan and this crime is as high-profile as any. They'll be pushing for the chair (or whatever it is that they use to kill people with here) for sure.

I would think the fact that it's a gaijin won't want them punish him less. There's a lot of shame involved, all the publicity overseas about this oddball dude cutting girls up. I think they will want to be seen to come down hard on him.

Apparently he admitted his name when they first got him. Perhaps he's very tired of running.
