BagOfCrisps 24
I saw that over in the distance.
kintaro 0
Gassan. But don't expect to hit it in July and find powder. It's an odd place to board/ski. Gassan literally means "Moon Mountain." There are no trees. But when you're jonzing....who care?
Mick Rich 78
Hi guys! So am I right in thinking that this year there will be little or no chance of boarding in June, other than at Gassan?? I've spent the winter checking out the resorts here in South Korea (I'm an English teacher) but am planning a trip to Japan in June and was thinking of taking my board. Cheers! @tokyo 14
Unless you are super super keen, I'd give it a miss - and come in January or February.
Mick Rich 78
Thanks for the advice!
blackdiamond 0
Hi, Need some advice. Visiting Japan for the first time in late April - where would I find the best conditions at that time of year? I am flexible, so I can anywhere in Japan. Thanks.
joshnii 2
I bet Okutadami will be able to open quite late this year.... if they bother to with the few people that will go.
joshnii 2
ANYWHERE in Japan? Out of interest, why?
Tubby Beaver 209
Kagura in Yuzawa should still have enough snow. I've been to Hakuba 47 last week in April and it was still top to bottom riding, with the top having pretty decent conditions considering
XilR8 0
A few seasons back (was it 2006 with all the snow?) I was in Kagura on May 22nd and still had a great time. Got a great tan too
2pints-mate 0
The daily reports on here say that Kagura plans to be open until 23rd May this season.
Tubby Beaver 209
base is still reported at 350cms....plenty life in that old dog yet
ausi ski bum 1
Kuradake (I think) above Sounkyo has a very long season I believe.
thursday 1
ASB, a nice long report with all of the places that you visited and lots of photos would be a nice distraction.
snowdude 44
Marunuma Kogen in Gunma also has a long season, open until sometime in may, its a nice resort, but not easy to get too if you haven't got a car or access to one. Kagura might be a better bet, as far as access goes, its bigger too.
HoTRoD 2
I would say Kagura pretty much beats Marunuma.... and is open longer, Marunuma is open until 5th May.
