indosnm 0
Heaps of crew in Mexico (argentines etc) tried to trick me into thinking they were local.. Bastards. TB, sp and PT are easy to differenciate if you know the basics of some, but if you didn't it'd be pretty hard. They can pick up spanish pretty easy and visa versa..

Mantas 3
Only Castilian Spanish. That Latino, agro, asshole surfer thing is all making sense. There were a couple of c#@ts from the Canary Island at Naraloo a few years ago. They were known in the camp as C1 and C2.
bushpig 0
Sounds like one of the teachers I work with, but she is known as fat C.

indosnm 0
With Gnarloo CT it's mainly the environmental concerns that's a worry. As a mate pointed out somewhere else, Rip Curl have an excellent background in environmental support. Look at Bells.. I think they won't pull a swifty and hold the contest and leave.. They'll have to contribute to some kind of management to look after the increased number of visitors from the exposure of the comp. Thing is Gnarloo isn't a bloody secret and it's such a head fark to get to, even from Perth.. Most surfers know about it.. the Billabong challenge was there and the people that want to go there will anyway.. I'd love to go and explore that coast in a camper van, But Indo is easier and warmer! Mantas 3
More exposure=more crowds IMO. The crowds at Gland definately increased after the Gland pro was held there, and that's not that easy to get to either. That might have happened anyway without the Gland Pro, who knows? I'd really love to know what percentage of surfers actually give a toss what the pros are doing. I enjoy watching the world's best surfers surfing the worlds best waves as much as anyone but I couldn't really care if they stopped all pro surfing tomorrow.
indosnm 0
I don't agree that the crowds increased at G-land due to the comp. It was already bloody busy before and had been flogged to death in the mags and surf flicks. I'd really love to see them go back to G-land. Such a great waves that should be on the dream tour. indosnm 0
I play the fantasy surfer game with some mates online. We do it like footy pools, so these days I have a very keen interest in each event (and I'm second with a chance at 1st with 1 event to go!). I'll stay up late to watch pumping waves, but if it's crap I couldn't give a shit. It's crazy to see the limits some of these guys push, especially on the heavy waves. How does Brazil fit into the dream tour? What do you guys think about the hawiian CT getting 16 local wildcards?(supposedly pipe specialists) I honestly think it's a load of crap. no other event gets to dictate to the ASP who can be part of the contest.. just another Hawiian wank.
spook 0
yeah, and they have 4 man heats for the pip comp too. imagine this - you've had an ok year but you're sitting on the cusp of the top 28 and you need a good result in hawaii to requalify. not requalifying means going back to the shitty QS and a big loss of earnings. you've been surfing 2 man heats all year and you get to pipe and suddenly there's two local rippers in your heat, desperately trying to show up the big guns at their local break. i can see why alot of the pros wouldn't be too happy with this situation. it doesn't make any sense that hawaii gets special rights that no one else does
indosnm 0
well they have changed the format this year so that there aren't 4 man heats. But these guys aren't any better than any other local guy at any other CT venue, so why the hell can't they have 16 local wildcards on the goldy, Bells or any other location? The locals at those locations have to get a sponsor wild card or earn their spot through the trials. The ASP should tell em to stick it up their shirt.. It is really unfair when careers are on the line...
Mantas 3
The wild card is a novelty idea anyway. Why have 16! That's ridiculous.
Mantas 3
First surf in 4 weeks today. pretty average 4 foot. I'm so unfit.
kokodoko 67
all yuk here. the wind has swung more to the east now, making it even more sloppier. I know where you had a surf mantas. I can read minds. 1.6 Kilometers ? At least i went for a walk on the beach and rode the bike for a couple of hours. I am ready for that day when there will be good surf. one day, i am dreaming of it. spook 0
ok i found this smh link http://www.smh.com.au/news/sport/no-peac...7135656211.html but in typical non-surfer gibebrish it doesn't explain it very well. so who's bad was it - neco's or sunny's? asl hasn't got much more to say either... http://surfinglife.com.au/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=187&Itemid=
indosnm 0
Let the judges deal with an interference. Sunny punching his fins out.. ASP is cool with that? C'mon... Then the local coconuts trying to hassle him on the beach.. Why don't they pull their chests in and mind their own business. No wonder Sunny can't get a sponsor. The guy is a tosser. spook 0
i agree, but isn't it kind of fun that surfing isn't a totally sanitised sport like golf or tennis or something? sure, you can't have the ASP sanctioning violence and intimidation, but it certainly makes it a bit more interesting. if sunny got back on tour, it would be interesting to see the reception he gets in brazil next year
