  2. No idea about boards as I don't snow board just ski, and not sure if people do they same to their skiis. If I get a bit of corrosion or crap on it I just simply run my belt sander along the bottom of the ski, smooth it up, slap a drop of wax on it if I think it needs it and i'm good to go. Not sure if skis have to be waxed after every few uses or not, actually I usually don't bother about waxing, I don't think my level is good enough to notice the difference. Plus my 90kg frame seems to be more than enough weight to propel myself down the mountain anyway. When I bought them from the sho

Yes daikon is Japanese radish, but there is also Kabu, which is the little round white radishes that grow anything from the size of a golf ball to around the size of a base ball depending on where they are grown. You can simply eat the daikon as it is, just peel the skin with a potato peeler and cho
  4. Wow very Natsukashiiiiiiiiiiii!!! Yeah I remember them, used to go to woolworths when I was a kid and pick different sweets, I remember they had penny chews like the black jacks and fruit salad sweets, little rectangle sweets in a wrapper, remember those? I bet instead of one penny chews they are now one pound chews!
  5. Looks like fun, can we do that in Japan anywhere, never seen them things before, only the normal tobogen or however you spell it!!!
  6. Yes I read that yesterday, absolutely disgusting, the parents, and everyone involved need hanging up by the ears and left to die, how they can treat a defenless little baby like that is beyond me!! Makes me want to go around there a personally slaughter the lot of them, It really pi`+es me off big time!
  7. Poor child, how is the child going to feel when he/she gets older, very very very confused! It is weird, sorry but this is not normal, I find people who have changed their sex and have children totally irresponsible! It should be banned for the childs sake!
  8. Oxo, natsukashii ne! My friends use to just chew on the oxo cubes!!! Oxo is good, when made into gravy not eaten as is, but for me nothing beats Bisto!
  9. Yes because mattaus said thay are beginners and that would be good for them. Compared to hakuba and such like it is small, but it is still a decent size for anyone starting out. I would not say that Nakazato is only for begginers, definately some reasonbly challenging courses there for up to around intermediate. Yes Maiko is good too, I have been there.

It's the best. I also got Bird's custard sitting in my cupboard too! Nothing like pud, cooked apple and custard!

  12. It hasn't really started here yet, I noticed a few shops have put up xmas decs, but that's about it so far, give it another couple of weeks and things will change, all the shops will have their trees and decorations up then. Japanese in general don't celebrate xmas like we do. Most don't put up a tree or decorate there houses, having said that in recent years I have noticed a few who do and go totally over board, like putting up not only a tree in the house, but putting lights all around the house all over all of their trees as well as lit up reindeer and santas in their gardens. They burn e
  13. I believe you can simply put your own card in a rental cars machine and it will work, but not actually done that myself, just what I heard somewhere.
  14. You will be surprised, how many resorts have English speaking staff, even the small places. Of course the number of staff tends to be limited, but usually someone can speak enough to help you. Even if they don't, not the end of the world, think of it as a cultural experience, and they normally always happy to help you out. Body language and a pen and paper goes a long way. That's what I do when I travel to another country where I don't speak the lingo. As for resorts, the above recommended are great I think, you might also want to try somewhere like Nakazato, yuzawa in Niigata, that
  15. That reminds me, actually in the UK we normally eat christmas puddings that our two or three or more years out of date as they become tastier with age just like wine. Anyone else from the UK do that? Actually time to get my order in for xmas pud and cake, time to phone home!
  16. Yep, I always choose the packages with the newest/longest use by date on them, especially things like milk, eggs, etc.
  17. It's not I looked at the prices, on the internet, same as a small resort, a rip off! For the same money in just a few weeks can enjoy the real stuff and real outside atmosphere. Talking of that, has anyone ever skiied the Naeba slope that has the false snow at the beginning of the season? Never really see why they need to bother making false snow when the area gets major dumps anyway and is covered in metres of snow, guess they must be desperate to get money, oh well whatever!
  18. Depends, but usually don't eat things past their sell by date unless they are sweet foods or foods that anyway keep even if they are a little out of date!
