  1. I looked into ordering from the states but when you do the exchange and add 50$ for shipping then the difference is like $20...so not really worth it. I think I will keep an eye on the yahoo auctions since there are a bunch of msr shoes on there. do you need poles for snowshoeing?
  2. funny thing about that last guy is how he starts off by explaining how it's no big deal to throw 9's in the park but it takes skillz to do it in the bc...then his part is total crap. He does the worst b180 I've ever seen. He really needs to get back to the park to get some style. All of his tricks are yawners. Just terrible
  3. My friend came over tonight and I messed around in photoshop for him. This is the sequence shot from the first pic I posted. It's a crash but whadcha think?
  4. japanese prices: 1)lightning ascent : 36000 2) denali evo ascent: 29400 200us sounds so much nicer!
  5. Yeah, the price difference is a big factor. I'm just waiting to see what next year's graphics/shape will be like...but I really should just stick with my 166 burton Frontier.
  6. I had that once in Whistler. I crashed in pow and as I did snot flew out and up onto my goggles. When I got up I thought I had cracked my lens (the snot had frozen in a perfect line). It wasn't til I checked them out on the chairlift that I realized...oops!
  7. I'm going to 47 tomorrow with a bunch of park rats...anybody going to be there or goryu who wants to do some freeriding?
  8. Yeah, I felt really bad after watching Paradox. The first rider John Jackson has a solid part but then after that it sucks. Sorry you got that one! I picked up 91 words for snow when I was in Whistler over Christmas and it was really interesting. I liked how you got to see what Jeremy Jones did at the top of the mountain, etc. Not just 3-5 second clips of trick after trick. The down side of that video though is all the talking and slow parts. I wish there was a 'just action' version that I could throw in and watch before I go riding and get stoked.
  9. Thanks for the links Montoya (I rated you a 5 star ) Spud I couldn't rate you since you have that turned off. but thanks for the help too! I decided against the split board because I have spent too much cash recently and will be spending so much more getting the beacon/probe/shovel/pack/avy course, etc etc and dropping over 1000$ on a board is not in the cards. Plus I do lots of filming (when I can be bothered) and snowshoes would help me alot. Last year I fell in a 3/4 meter hole in Myoko and ...actually snowshoes wouldn't have changed that a bit. I ended up climbing out bruce l
  10. at the supermarket in town, the door to the office says 'Stuff only'
  11. I had to vote a no to the party. My Dad has to pick that weekend of all weekends to come to Japan I will be putting him in the hands of my mother-in-law for the saturday though, so that I can come up and ride with you lot. What are the details for sat morning. When you decide please post it
  12. looks like I'll be going for snowshoes. Thanks for the excellent explanation. Alright then, any tips on snowshoes?? good brands, shapes, bindings?
  13. that place looks good. I will sign up. Only thing that sucks is the course in March 4/5. Wish it was earlier
  14. just get yourself a pair of burton socks. They go for about 25$ everywhere. That will solve all your worries
  15. 5 bills for a khyber...._???? Man, you're lucky! I think I will go for the malolo 162 since the 160 khyber is a bit short and the 165 is probably a bit long. Are you khyber riders coming up to Hakuba on the 28th? Hopefully the weather will cooperate and bring us the pow.
  16. Anyone know of an avy class in English in Hakuba? I've only seen a Japanese class there. I'm not sure I would understand all the technical words so I would prefer to take one in English. I've only seen the link from this forum to an English avy class in Hokkaido...but that's a long way to go
  17. what size did you get tsondaboy? Just wondering how it compares to the malolo. what does the quadraxial glass do?
  18. Ok, I am less than a beginner..can you tell me all the dangers in that pic. Ones I can see are: 1. like NPM said, he's alone 2. the path up the ridge on the left would be safest 3. there's a fat cornice 4. no trees on that face which possibly indicates an avanlance prone area 5. it's an open face and it's sunny please correct me if I made a mistake
  19. Just checked out the Prior Khyber online...my mouth was watering. Looks like it would cost about 8man to get it shipped to Japan
  20. I love chocolate and I gave it up 2 years ago. After the first 10 days, I felt ok and it actually felt good to turn down offers of a piece of chocolate. After a month I felt that I had proved my point to myself and now I'm back on the wagon...or is that off the wagon? lol
  21. how does a nonoard work? do you just use it on hills in your backyard, or on skiruns?
  22. I've got Alice in Videoland on repeat right now as I'm slugging through some compositing (green screen editing). really catchy stuff!
