  1. A friend of mine has a few. Last season he let me ride over all his ricefields in it. Lots of fun.
  2. Yes I'm sure we can recommend Shiga Kogen or Hakuba as the place to go. Both should be fine. Check the Now reports on this site for archives of weather in previous seasons to get an idea. (links up top). Snow may well be great still then, but may also be getting rather spring-y. It will of course depend on how things go weather-wise. I would personally recommend Shiga Kogen with a few days in Nozawa Onsen.
  3. Not that many cheap cheap places in Nozawa, 106000 for 16 nights sounds like a mistake!
  4. Why do they go so late from Gala? edited: just realised - nighta at weekends
  5. I'm not sure I like the look of that! Give me some fried eggs, fried bread, sausages, bacon (well done), tomatoes and mushrooms.
  6. I see Sakaya has been acded to sj: http://www.snowjapan.com/e/hotel/viewhotel.php?hotid=181 It is probably the poshest place in Nozawa, very nice place.
  7. My local public gym is 2500 yen for 3 months. Bargain! It's pretty good as well, certainly good enough for what I want.
  8. Lots of restaurants in Shiga Kogen just don't exist. The most lively part is Ichinose, around 4F on this map. http://www.snowjapan.com/e/japan-ski-town-maps/shiga-kogen/shiga-kogen.html But there are hotels dotted around other areas - Okushiga, Maruike (the 'central' area), and Kumanoyu. Depends on what you want, but don't go to SK for nightlife!
  9. If you remember, that Brazilian psychic said that there would be heavy snow in Tokyo at the end of January.
  10. If you're considering Myoko, then places like Nozawa and Shiga Kogen are about the same.
  11. I have been to Maiko once, really liked it. There are some good runs at the top area. Worth a visit.
  12. Is it disposable? They can take really nice pics. The days I have been out so far have been grey days, not the best for photos. Hope to be able to get a break with the weather soon.
  13. The village - no problem. The mountain - depends on where you are, some areas no problem (then again, you're probably enjoying skiing/snowboarding rather than phoning up there).
  14. Shiga Kogen doesn't really have (m)any restaurants as such - they are all part of hotels. The place that does have a few places is the Ichinose area, around 4F on this map http://www.snowjapan.com/e/japan-ski-town-maps/shiga-kogen/shiga-kogen.html Nice restaurant in Okushiga Kogen hotel (5A on above map), bit posh.
