Hehehe, worst pick-up line ever! If I were a guy I'm sure I could come up with something better than that -
"Scientists are broadly agreed that rich countries have to reduce their emissions by a massive 80 per cent by 2050 if there is to be any hope of stopping climate change escalating out of control." Wow, that seems like a pretty far-fetched target when you consider that our energy usage is only going to increase in coming years. Unfortunately, unless we all switch to hydrogen powered cars and turn off our airconditioning, developed countries are going to switch to nuclear power.

Is there any way you can get someone to take over your lease? Or, perhaps if you come up with a sob story they might cut you some slack? Otherwise, give notice now I guess and stick it out for the remaining three months...

Dilemma. (Sometimes) smelly girlfriend
ncorrenti replied to snowbender's topic in General off-topic discussions
I once broke up with a guy because he was a chronic farter. It wasn't that I couldn't handle the smell or the fact that he was farting in front of me, but rather that he had absolutely no manners whatsover. If we went out with friends to dinner, he'd happily let one rip loudly at the dinner table. We'd go shopping and he'd fart loudly in front of sales assistants. He farted in front of my mother on more than one occasion. Now, I'm not completely anti-fart and I tried my hardest to come to terms with his habit (especially as he very cute), but in the end it was just too much. -

Excellent! So guys, at the moment I've narrowed it down to two: Fernie and Whistler. The situation is that I'll be travelling with a couple of girlfriends - one is a beginner and the other is at an intermediate level. I'd personally prefer Fernie but I'm not sure if the terrain will be beginner-friendly enough for my mates. Comments? Obviously Whistler is a great place and I wouldn't mind at all if I ended up there, but my first preference is Fernie. -
Do flu shots really work for you guys? I had one in 2001 and I got a bad flu that year - I was in bed for two weeks. I had a flu shot the following year and got the flu again - which took me a whole month to recover from fully. I haven't had a flu shot since and haven't had so much as a sniffly nose! What's the story?

My family is Italian so we never did the Christmas pudding thing. I've always steered clear of them because they smell nasty. Is it like chocolate pudding with raisins?

Powwwers, yeah, heating the cup sounds sensible. Maybe Douglas forgot that bit, or maybe I did.

Plucky, I have heard that Whistler is awesome, but yeah, looking for somewhere a little less packed in peak season. I'm a decent skier but this will be my first ski trip after recovering from injury so I'll definitely be taking it easy! By eye candy, do you mean lots of hot men? -
I can't stand tea or coffee but I do remember reading a Douglas Adams book that described how to make the perfect cup of tea. It went something like this: Purchase top-quality Earl Grey teabags from Harrods. Put two teabags into a teapot and boil water in the kettle. The instant that the water starts boiling, pour the water into the teapot (if the water isn't boiling hot, it won't release the optimum amount of flavour from the tea leaves). Let it sit for a minute. Then get your tea cup ready. If you have milk, put the milk in first. Then pour the hot tea in. Add a spoonful of sugar if des

Thanks guys, your advice has been invaluable. I'm gonna make a decision and book soon! -
I've done the Gold Coast Marathon 10km run every year for the past six years, my best time was a few years ago at 0:47:15. Unfortunately my body is screaming out for me to stop (stress fractures in my shins, torn ligaments, bad knees) so I think 2006 might be my last year.

I wouldn't buy her a handbag... that sort of thing is pretty hard to choose for someone else. Does she live at home? If so, maybe buy her stuff she can use when she moves out, i.e. nice bath towels/bedsheets/dinner set, etc. Or maybe a day spa voucher? We girls love stuff like that.

I saw Deep Dish a few months back and they played an awesome four-hour set. I'm seeing Jamiroquai in a couple of weeks, which I'm pretty excited about (!!!). They're always pretty spectacular live.

Sounds sexy! I'll check it out. -
I agree with Oyuki. Y'know, not all overweight people spend all day eating and don't do any excercise. My dad is about 30kg overweight and it's not through lack of trying to lose it. He eats more healthily than anyone I know and he swims/walks every day. It's very hard on him because everyone else in the family is quite slim, and we all eat like pigs and do very little purposeful excercise. Sometimes, you just can't fight nature. So, give fatties a break will ya?
