What do you eat when you are drunk?
daver replied to klingon's topic in General off-topic discussions
poutine. nothing, and i mean nothing (yes it slaughters pizza, kebab, curry, or ramen), is better when you are drunk than a huge steaming bowl of thick cut fries, gravy, and cheese curd. -

unfortunately there is really nothing anyone us can do about it. make a stink and you end up reinforcing the stereotype of loud obnoxious gaijin who don't know their place in society. until the average japanese person decides they have had enough of this bullshit, nothing is going to get done. i do believe a lot of people in japan have had enough however i don't think the average japanese person has ever considered the notion that silence is acceptance. i figure the best we can do is discuss these things with all of your japanese friends and encourage them to discuss them with their friends. m

Japan women called child machines
daver replied to Phantom Raspberry Blower's topic in General off-topic discussions
in all reality people should not be shocked at all by this. he is a 71 year japanese man. that might be a little judgemental, but if the shoe fits... what is the most disturbing however is 1st, the LDP's blase response. 2nd, and worse yet, when asked by the opposition women to sign a letter condemning the remark, the women members of the LDP and New Komeito Party all refused. this refusal can only mean one of two things; these women are not bothered by said comments, or these women are bothered but have chosen not to sign the condemnation for fear of persecution within their respecti -
Japan women called child machines
daver replied to Phantom Raspberry Blower's topic in General off-topic discussions
even if he were to replace "birth-giving machines" with 'women', it would still be sexist in that it is assuming a women's sole purpose in japanese society is to bare children. -

That is where you manage to have sex with your students (i can`t imagine this happening in anything but a private lesson) in all three gondolas. and i never actually heard of anyone who accomplished this feat, except with the same partner. what are the conditions? same student? same ski week? three different(at least) students in the same ski week? same season? need more details to qualify the degree of difficulty.

daver replied to SirJibAlot's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
we have more snow than the alps this year. and i suspect we will have a longer season on resort. although it is a big mountain, it is not nearly as high as the kita alps and as such we don't have the big lines that hakuba can boost come spring. samurai and i are trying to scout out some possible descents but it is still in the works. if pipe/park is what you like, i can confidently say you will be disappointed. as a snow boarder i suspect zao would be a frustrating mountain. unless you know where to go and when, there is a lot of traversing/walking. it is still a very aesthetically ple -
Collisions?

just realized something, "20 years surfing, never had hit a person." the right of way works differently. you have to figure that out fast man. 300,000 is small change when you consider you will be tried and convicted of manslaughter if you kill anyone. next time try thinking about spending 2-10 years in prison in exchange for a fast day on the hill.
