I would definitely go for a new one (but maybe not mention it to Ocean11 ). Sell the old one or give it away to someone who can make use of it. It sounds to me like you really love having a vid so you won't regret getting a new one, probably as soon as you get the thing.

I'm not interested in lots of the extras on most DVDs - they're usually talking heads ego trips (oh he's a wonderful guy, etc...) But those LOTR sets are very very well made and very interesting. If you're interested in film-making they are amazing.

Try it, life might be more fun and less stressful. I read an article that basically said keitais are pretty much useless in times of disaster (Niigata earthquake, etc) - jammed forever.... public phones were the best way to communicate. Kind of eliminates some of the "useful in times of emergency" argument for having a keitai.

I was in the shops over the weekend and noticed all the Christmas songs tunes - mostly cheesy covers. It got me thinking .... who makes these cheesy covers. There must either be a few very busy people (groups?) doing this forever, or lots of them. Are there people out there who "do cheesy background and covers music for shops/elevators" as a living? sunrise and other musicians - know anything about this part of the industry?
