  1. up to 5mb but i dont want to hog the bandwidth from everyone else when i've got my own bandwidth to burn - thats why im suggesting the link idea, for those of us with our own web spaces.
  2. hmm, under 2 Mb is quite restrictive for video. Is that set in stone as the absolute limit? I mean, fair enough if it is - I fully appreciate your bandwidth issues. If thats the case, I'd rather be able to put up a link to my own webspace, & just have a thumbnail of the video appear on the SJ page. Is that possible?
  3. nice one SJ#1 & that works really well for what Plucky wants to do, because he can source all the clips from that location, do his edit, & then send it to you to be uploaded to the movie page. So viewers can see the original clips as well as the edit
  4. thanks for the long description Serre Che pretty tempting to take a look next season if i can save enough dough...
  5. yip, you are the director/editor plucky! you pick the shots, & piece it all together anyway you like - im sure you'll do a great job I could do with a title pretty soon, as Im keen to do the titles while I have some free time... anyone got any ideas? "SnowJapan Riders 2004 - A Yuki Fantasy" haha - thats pretty naff - im sure someone can do better than that!? SJ.com - do you guys have enough space for people to upload their video clips to your server? Then Plucky could just dowdload them from there.
  6. so what are the steeps like? cliff drops? are there many long, steep runs accessible from gondolas? & theres no tree-runs, right? france alps are high on my list of must-see mountains.
  7. thats a lovely song, O11... So Plucky, is it safe to assume that you are totally happy to direct & edit this thing? It could be a lot of work, but if you are really enjoying it, then go for it! what do you think about the titles? I would be really keen to do them - just the intro graphics that is. You're the Director, so tell me what you want & I'll make it so sorry but I still havent uploaded the rest of my movies... will soon...
  8. you've got to be honest with mates on the ski slopes & try to prevent them skiing outside of their ability. Its in their best interests - your life in you hands out there in the off-piste! so send him/her back to the bunny hill to get more lessons, & meet them for lunch. once they're comfortable riding anything within the resort boundaries (ie. after 2-3 weeks of riding), then consider taking them on your off-piste adventures - until then, they are too big a liability. if they are not adult enough to understand this, they shouldnt be skiing at all.
  9. imho, the people that use these forums tend to be pretty hardcore about their snowsports, so i guess in general you're telling people who would probably find these spots anyway. im sure that 99% of snowriders dont read forums & dont have much of a clue, so its no real problem for the other 1% of us to share the knowledge a bit. i guess the problem with surfing is that its a lot more accessible, & it only takes 20 bods to make a break feel crowded.
  10. PEACHES! I saw her play the other night, at the Annandale Hotel (traditional home of alternative rock & hard-to-label music) in Sydney. She's also playing the Big Day Out festival (Australia-wide). Best live act I've seen in years!! I've been listening to her old album "The Teaches of Peaches" & thinking about buying her new album "Fatherf*cker". Its all just so raw & dirty & tongue-in-cheek! He live show is total in-your-face sexuality, rappin/rockin/punk/electro mayhem. She has so much energy & charisma its astounding! Her web page & the site for her
  11. i think its a great idea to make a SJ video. unfortunately all my stuff is low-res > 320X240 15 fps, as its all just captured on digital stills cameras, but that really only means it would look a bit crap played back on a TV - if we made a video & published it on the web, it'd have to be low-res anyway. so plucky - if you are keen to edit something together, i'll upload all my best movies & stills for you, & i would be happy to create the opening titles for it too
  12. im sure they look a lot more like those "Yata" guys. 'fraid thats all ive got - that little clip. i figured it must be a hit as they played it 3-4 times a day in niseko during early march 2002. maybe i need to give up on it
  13. they've had a bad patch in niseko, with lots of wind & not much new snow, but from the look of the weather maps i'd say its all about to change for the better
  14. hehe - maybe they are all big film geeks - they like to sit through the credits too. I'm working on "Happy Feet" George Miller is directing it. I'm just one little cog in a very big machine.. & its not at all glamerous, working on a CG film - beats flippin burgers though Some big names are doing the voices. More info on these dodgy film sites. http://www.darkhorizons.com/news03/031029f.php http://www.thezreview.co.uk/comingsoon/h/happyfeet.htm http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/HappyFeet-10001469/cast_crew.php
  15. I'm still wondering... I wont shut up about it until someone tells me Dont people remember hit tunes over there or something!?!? Gee... it'd be like forgetting.... Kylie Minogue! Quote: Originally posted by low pressure lover: I know I keep going on about this, but I really want to get this silly song... so here's my friend doing her little dance to the "Hai Hai Hai" song, in Niseko, 2002. Does anyone know the name of this song & who did it? (its a 3.7mb AVI) Snowdance
  16. well, when you slave away for 2-3 years doing all that animation, its kinda nice to see your name up there...its proof that you were involved... the credits are longer these days because so many people work on these big FX/animated productions...I'm working with over 150 people on a feature film right now - there'll be 100s more involved when they start shooting the live action shots... & you'll find that most of the people who stay for the credits are looking out for their friends/families names! (look mum - im in the credits!)
  17. nofakie! - your wife rips! those are vids - all shot on DV, right? its much nicer getting the full 30(or 25) frames per sec... the canon stills cams weve been shooting on only get 15fps... doesnt capture the true majesty of those fat rooster tails... :sigh:
  18. hmmm... nice vid - lookin fwd to seeing more must be early in the day to be getting such untracked goodness right below a lift!?! nice conditions - gee, it even looks almost as good as the mega-pow i was scoring at hakkouda....
  19. Neal Stephenson - yeah, love his stuff! in a similar vein, anything by Greg Egan is also awesome, & has anyone read Rudy Ruckers stuff? that guy is way out there! I just finished "Marching Powder" - about a Bolivian Prison - facsinating stuff. written by an Aussie lawyer, who went & lived in the prison with this Engish guy who was on cocaine smuggling charges. http://www.marchingpowder.com/
  20. was in niseko first week & a 1/2 of march 2002. the last few days there, it was defiantely heading into spring - sugary snow off-piste, slushy on the courses. still stacks of fun, uncrowded, awesome snow-depth, but not the powder fantasty land that you go to hokkiado for...
  21. fattwins - sounds awesome! looking fwd to seeing your pics. & im the boarder dropping the jump. i'll fwd this onto the cameraman though - classic! Quote: LPL, seriously man, have you ever filmed porn? ......etc........
  22. yeah, we went with folk who had spent last season skiing Hakkouda, & they couldnt believe the lush conditions either - as soon as we got up there, we headed straight for the radio tower, brushed the rime off the ladder, climbed up & started shooting. I have a stack more pics we took that day, which i'll post soon. & that drop is totally sick - on the left ridge of the Moke, under the cable-car. The landing is totally blind even with sunlight, but that was 1/2 the fun - the cameraman scopes the landing out & you just launch into the sky & hope for the best - huge adrena
