I watched Rising Sun last night. Sean Connery, Wesley Snipes, a bucketful of bad Japanese accents and even more silly Japanese stereotypes. I suppose it was worth watching for the laughs.

I heard that Yokoteyama might be opening up - at least a bit - to boarders this coming season. Seems sensible when the resort over the top is for boarders and the only way to get there is via Yokoteyama!

Anyone with any experience with the police here in Japan - bad or good? In that Niseko Probs thread they were talking about there not being any police in Hirafu. Doesn't really surprise me as I hardly ever see any around where I live - and when I do it is usually catching speeding cars and waving kids across the road in a morning (job done by Mr Lollipop in the UK). Wonder how many there are relatively for the population compared to overseas.

I wonder what the number of police is in Japan compared with say the States of the UK? I hardly ever see them here. They seem pre-occupied with catching people going 5km over the speed limit on country roads.
