  3. PUDDING!!! top of the list right now is the kobe chef club's 'royal custard pudding' get into it, y'all. and for frucks sake - just like last time this was up...no one has mentioned onsen! what is wrong with u kids? the onsen rock it hard!
  4. i'm also balancing the other end of the scales with chomsky "understanding power" a little wide on simplifications and generalisations, but full of interesting insights.
  5. bastards yes, moronic indeed, but not a failing inherent to Communism. In fact a shift to more socialist values will be necessary to stem the relentless capitalist pressures on the environment. as long as we allow nature to be freely exploited these problems will arise. to stop the exploitation u need to employ socialist values. even the method of issuing tradeable quotas to allow the market to internalise the costs needs somewhere for that money to go. if it is to do any good, it should go either to the people, or thru the government into environmental schemes. neither are very capitalist.
  6. and, of course, it reaffirms the superiority of the male disposition and intellect
  7. the time clock at work is 2 minutes fast. this is causing me severe distress. normally i arrive at work at _:57 or _:58 and look like a regular responsible worker. but this clock anomaly has had me arriving on the dot 5 times in the last week and a half. everyday i express my dismay at the clock trying to undermine my good record, and rip me off of half an hour's pay. but the staff must secretly enjoy watching me freak. concurrently the battery sign has appeared on my watch. i have my suspicions that my watch is in on the conspiracy. i'm not sure if digital watches can
  8. i see u skipped your lectures for poll design 101. try 10-19; 20-29
  9. incidentally.... anyone catch the metro today?? did u feel more cosmopolitan?
  10. i suppose the 10% income tax and 5% sales tax is killing u now. any increase likely to push u below the poverty line. the problem with sales tax is that it is inherently regressive, not whether it appears on the price tag or not.
  11. know of no country that includes sales tax in prices?? that's excluding australia, new zealand, britain and france i take it.
  12. there's a new page for the bookmarks. just out of interest... what traumatic incident caused this activity to be restricted to childhood memories?
  13. WTF were my parents thinking?? my mum will be in for some trouble next time i see her.
  14. hey and i had a fruckin bros lp. bros, baby!!! yeah. sweet, this pic comes up number one on a google search. these guys must still be cool
  15. aahhh u must be talking about the cd's i gave to my exgf's little brother who was 9 years old. emm, they be a micky j cd, genesis, phil collins, something in a white case and a couple of others. about 7 or 8 in total. at that time my collection was filling up with blur, charlatans, happy mondays, suede, primal scream - u get the idea - so i needed to get rid of all incrimating evidence of commercial fm radio. most of the embarrassing stuff others have mentioned would make a pretty rockin 80s cd. thems not really embarrassing. grooovy kinda love.....thats embarrassing!
  16. i read the article, shared the views posted, and giggled when i saw them tagged onto the end of the thread. this page here has held my attention for over 2 hours over the last 2 days. although it stops short of covering recent history.
  17. I believe the timeframe for such a declaration is a little bogged down by the stategic importance of an ally in the middle east, and powerful lobby groups in influential nations. a stern rebuke from some quarters even seems hard to come by, and it is this festering support which hampers other peace-making efforts.
  18. i reserve my hatred for society generally and what we have become. this way it is spread evenly amongst many people and never shows in too much of an extreme way. these crooks some of u refer to steal small quantites (granted, sometimes with high impact on those from whom they take) but often get caught and do time. corporate crims steal millions, and if caught, often get off lightly. and worse again were the misdirected policies of the IMF, supported by the financial powers of western creditors, that impoverished needy countires. hatred should be shared against the many,
  19. as a kid my house was broken into 4 times. at the age of 11 i interrupted the criminals during the act. our family's car was stolen 4 times, the last occassion being written off in high speed chase. my car has been broken into and stolen a number of times. last month my (reasonably expensive) bike was stolen. from my experience and the crimes mentioned above... by far the worst experience is the invasion of your private space during a home break-in. however, these events are most likely to be driven by social problems such as drug abuse or being raised in unstable
  20. i agree whole-heartedly. and it is education of the consumer which will help to make this a more feasible proposition. take a look at this: a consumption manifesto it uses the word manifesto...so it must be good!
  21. kintaro, i think u r missing plucky's point about the degradation of large areas of rainforest, and poor farmers turning to the more lucrative but unstable cash crop of coffee. and he may also be suggesting that starbucks is serving to popularise the coffee-drinking pasttime, and hence worsening the problem. others may wish to compare this to the many problems associated with the world's increasing consumption for meat. here is a plug for something of a compromise: Quote: A few major coffee houses are now offering “ethical” coffee, triple-certified to be organic, grown
  22. kazaa lite was killed off by some kazaa. sharmen networks was upset about copyright infringement or something.
  23. u'll have to pore over SJ history to find that out
