kool pics. Wow, so is it worth doing a day at Liza world? Or even half day? I had been under the impression that it wouldn't be worth it and that we should only go to Zao Onsen, but Liza World is where I'll be staying when I get up there.

It's technically illegal to be charged a renewal fee, you legally don't have to do it. I know of 2 people who didn't - the landlords couldn't kick them out, but of course it doesn't make for great vibes between tenants and owners. Key money is also not legal. Tenants actually have a lot of rights here. I strongly suggest you find a tenants advisory service (sorry I don't know where, I think there's one in Shinagawa Tokyo) to find out your legal position. You could actually stay there without paying the renewal. Definitely seek some counsel.

Sounds like it was a good time had by all. I was thinking of you all while I was working some 50 or so kms further down the mountain. Pics please!!!! How many SJ #1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (is there a 5?) were there? A last minute job came in for Tues, so I decided not to come up to Hakuba after Karuizawa, but I'll be up sometime to see the bubba.

I don't get it, why don't they just raise the fare prices to include the fuel charge, sure make insurance separate if they want. But it's really getting crazy, surely it's not that high elsewhere? (she says hopefully)

I don't think I've ever flown with luggage 20kg or under. I've never been charged excess. I don't know you'll get hit for anything if you're just a bit over, but of course that could be the day you hit someone picky at the desk. I've even been over 30k (but usually from Aus to Japan , not the other way round).
