  1. looks like a cold snowy winter from my vantage point, even i (optimist) think that things were going to get rollin` this early. I don`t even have my gear yet. el nino, my ass
  2. that`s what i figgered when i was looking for a place - nice and central - good spot for day or half day trips. of course the snow is better up north, but the ride is farther as well. it`s snowing
  3. 3 years ago, I was still a beginner, rode in Loveland Colorado for 4 days - all of them weekdays - maybe 15 people on the hill, freezing cold - and 60 cm of powder - lightest and freshest I`ve ridden - it was like riding on a cloud - and we never got tired.
  4. So I KNOW this has been done before, but I think it is important enough to do again. Plus with the obscene amount of traffic on this board these days, it makes it impossible to find old topics sometimes. I mean 29 pages of snow topics - Sheesh. . . I`m all for it, but that`s alot of info to sift thru. Anyways, to the point, which resorts are the most friendly i.e. least likely to rip your ticket when you ride off-piste ? ?
  5. nice - that`s gotta be early huh ? I mean come on, it`s freakin` October. El Nino my ass.
  6. I broke my nose off a huge kicker, blood everywhere. And I`ve concussed my head a few times. Other that that, I got my feet wet a few times. And sometimes I get a runny nose. Seems like the wrist guards topic is all the rage - I`ll keep saying that yeah, a wrist operation is far more complicated, long, and expensive than a simple broken forearm. And I`ll repeat my vote for the Red (Burton) Impact guards - they are built into the glove. Whether you see it as an advantage or disadvantage is up to you. I`m not a Burton lover, but this is a pretty good prod. http
  7. This forum has some of the weirdest posts I`ve ever seen, forget trying to follow it, anywayzz, DC Premier. Pump action, like a shotgun.
  8. That`s why I came here, and why I have been planning to come here for a year. I mean I could have gone anywhere, but Japan sounded like something different, and it has been so far. Just waiting for the snow to fall, and trying to study in the meantime. werd
  9. footage has got me drooling. . . keep up the good work.
  10. STRAP STRAP STRAP STRAP Flex with your knees, not with yer ankles.
  11. So maybe this has already been done, I have been off the board for a while so I don`t know, but here yah go. . .
  12. So ummm. . . yeah - how many days are you planning on skiing/riding this season ? ? ?
  13. I am moving to Nagano in six days - I can`t freakin` wait, so in my head, I`m from Nagano. As for your post Fattwins, I think that a ride board wouldn`t be a bad idea. Some kind of who is going where and when thing - so that people could fill up their cars.
  14. Ride regular, but have never had much trouble with switch. Skate regular, but push with the wrong foot. Right handed.
  15. So I have been hearing alot of talk about el Nino and the crap winter we are spozed to have, but I have heard some anectotal (not scientific) evidence to the contrary as well, so this is my case for a nice cold snowy winter. We`ve seen the pics here on the forum for snow high up in the mountains, and my question is "Is that common in mid-late October ?" Additionally, back home in Wisconsin and in nearby Minnesota, they have been getting hammered with snow and these are places that usually get their first snowfalls in early-mid December. I checked weather.com for vail, CO and it says
  16. Oh yeah, fer sher, on the tops of the crazy high mountains, you can see some crazy shyite. On the top of Loveland, Colorado, it was so big and so windy, I thought I was going to get whipped right off the mountain - craziness.
  17. So yeah, if from Nagano now, freakin` stoked, seeing as I`ve wanted this for a year. Major hassle and waiting to get here, but I`m in a good spot so I can`t complain. I`m actually moving in on Halloween (Oct 31st) night, and have my own 2 bedroom pad, so to any of the longtimers on this board, hit me up with an email or a private message, and I`d be happy to have you come stay with me, that is if I can kickit in Niseko, or Hakkouda, or wherever with y`all. In any case, now that the ink has dried and I`m on my way, I`m going to do my best to set up some parties, backcountry barbeq
  18. you should check out SNOVA Hashima - in Hashima city - indoor park with a jump. I live in Nagoya (but not for too much longer) and I would check it out if I had my board here.
  19. I have a Giro Flint and I hear alot of people say "nice helmet" or "if i get a helmet, i want one like that" The Red (Burton) Skycap gets alot of style points as well. I think that people should do whatever makes them feel comfortable, but I hate to see people (kids) especially not wearing helmets because they think it will make them uncool. I have knocked myself out a few times, but not since I`ve been wearing a dome. I see the issue of safety on the hill alot like driving - even if you are a totally confident skier or rider, you can never count on the same from other people. you n
  20. I tried the Sapporo Winter, It`s nothing special, I think they used a ESB hops in hopes of giving it a little bit of an English Bitter flavor, but it is pretty same same.
