  1. I am Kyushuu snowboarder pondering the choice of where to board. I'll either go to Hakuba Norikura or Naeba. I want powder, a decent boarder park and some night life. Which resort should I choose and why? Your comments, please. Resort: why: Cheers Daniel
  2. I put this topic up before and got a fair bit of interest. I just wanted to refresh it and see if anybody was till interested in riding together this Dec/Jan. My friend and I will be travelling through northern honshu between the 29th Dec and Jan 7th. Our aim is to chase the pow and seek out fellow boarders who want company to ride with for a day. If you're interested, let me know your ken and nearest ski resort. Cheers Daniel
  3. Anybody interested. If so, drop me a line and I'll get in touch via email. I figure it's worth getting to know the crew I may ride with and if i don't well it will making for interesting conversation, won't it? Cheers Dan dan_griffiths01@hotmail.com
  4. Imo, I most certainly will be in Amori, having heard the great press about Hakkouda. If you'd like to make some fresh lines with my mate and i let me know and we'll carve out some plans for Dec. Mogski, Thanks for the reassurance about Hirafu chalet. I have a really good feeling about this trip and your words have given confidence to my expectations. Cheers Dan Cheers
  5. The ONLY place to be for a good time, none other than estatic SAGA Ken (kyushuu) (SAGA is a holiday company in the UK that caters for the over 50's!!)
  6. danz take a look at the hirafu chalet. (access via places to stay on SJG) I just booked for 8 nights. It's only Sept and I'm already buzzing! Dan
  7. Niseko will be my home from Dec 21 - 28. Anyone there at that time? Fancy hooking up for a refreshing cold one after scoring some backcountry excitement? Let me know
  8. Thanks for the responses, to hot rod, I'll be using accommodation either in the resort or close by. I'm an English teacher with JET and a member of the support organsation AJET and hope to use the 'tatami timeshare' to stay with other AJET members. Colin, not sure where Tochigi is (where do you board), nonetheless if it's on the way we'll stop and ride your local area. Cheers Any comments on the following? I just received a fantastically cheap quote for a chalet in Hirafu. 7 nights ski to the door acc (no food) + 7 days hirafu pass (+night skiing)-= 50,000. Chalet o
  9. All right!!! Getting some feedback Frannyo My friend and i are beginning our trip in Niseko, where we will stay for about one week (21 Dec - 27 Dec), after which we will head south from Hokkaido into Northern Honshuu. I want to hit Hakkouda in Amori for a few days, but after that our itinery is open. If my geography serves me correctly Akita won't be too far away, will it? Let me know which resort you frequent and I'll plan a route to pass through as I'd like to tap into the local network. To Liquid X We'll be going as far as Fukushima, so we may not make it to Nagano,
  10. Hi, I will be in the vicinity of Hokkaido and Northern Honshu this coming Dec for about two weeks with a friend. My mate and I have laid out plans for a road/snowboard trip traveling around the north of Japan with the intention of seeing as many resorts as poss, so we shall be moving around quite a bit. We are both of a competent level, both in the powpow and the park. Ifm looking for people who might be interested in hooking up with us on the odd day to do some riding together this December. If you think this sounds like your thing. Drop me a line through the ski japan forum o
  11. Thanks for the info. I tried the link but it didn't work. Do you know anyone who has been to Hakkuodo (might be wrong i can't remember!)? I'd like to get some more info, if you have any pointers share away. Cheers Dan
  12. Wizz, Thanks for the tips. I've picked up titbits on niseko (only made it to page 5 on forum board, 13 or so to go!) Any directions on how to find long powpow runs in niseko?
  13. Andyindy Your answer about working in Japan caught my eye and i wondered if you could actually put a name of a resort to the situation you described cause it sounded like an amazing deal. At present, I'm teaching English but am interested in staying in Japan. If you have the time I'd appreciate some pointers about working at a ski resort and how to go about it. Cheers Daniel [This message has been edited by dan_griffiths01 (edited 08 September 2002).]
  14. I'm planning a snowboard trip to Niseko this Xmas. I want to find out how flexible the ski patrols are about off piste boarding and to ask if anyone can reccommend good places to hike for carving fresh lines. Also, I'm looking for a decent snowboard park, is there one at niseko or will i be disappointed? (And if, anyone knows a place to stay with reasonable rates and an onzen to relax in at the end of the night, let me know) Cheers in advance Daniel
