  1. Dammit! i swear to god i know this! But i dont wanna get it right because then ill have to think of something! Obviously... Courtesy Image mover:
  2. Whee! love you all! You can sell off all the code of my blogs when im a super famous TED talking celebrademic!
  3. Because it looks like a sideways heart Just like that's a sideways smile. Anyways... gogglebox. Amazingly disarming TV. You watch the first part and you might think "bunch of people playing up to the camera". Watch a few more episodes and you suddenly see that they have these relationships that are straight out of the fast show. I mean the soft kind heart of the fast show we all remember. Just watching that old posh guy making his rubbish innuendo and his wife laughing like a horse at it, and you get this whole warm cuddly feeling. Attraction and love is the weirdest thing. htt
  4. its not exactly inspiring. Its like being an exchange student in middlesborough.
  5. You do what almost everyone else does. You "know" youre 'ready' when you start dipping in and out of the side piste, riding through some well spaced trees and crapping your pants when you realise that despite your brain screaming TURN FFS!!! YOURE HEADING RIGHT FOR IT!!! the message doesnt quite reach the legs and feet for a good few weeks or months (at anything but the slowest speeds). And if the invariable unclipping occurs and you have to walk back the 50 meters to the piste (uphill through waist deep snow - a good thirty minute extreme workout) doesnt put you off too much, you might start
  6. A few things. Nicki Minaj is my ideal woman. I cant explain it. but like any good politician i thought id drop this in a shitstorm thread where i could get it off my chest with the least possible damage to my carefully crafted reputation as a safe pair of cultural hands. Secondly, its pay day, i need paid! i have 0.6RMB to my name. BUT if i dont get paid within the next hour, i wont physically be able to go to work on Thursday so i wont have to do that 2 and half hour each way commute to my job. I just cant decide which eventuality i need to be cheering for! I mean, ive got pasta, i can
  7. I learned everything i know on toomi/iimori. Well, almost everything... i learned to link a turn on togari. But i learned my first groundtrick, i learned to carve, i learned to ride a box, and i learned to jump. Oh, and i learned to do a kick ass helicopter ground spin into a tail slide. I say learn, i mean i did a kick ass helicopter (540), and landed on the tail then tried to recover. But i got a clap from a skier who i think was under the impression i was going for it, so im officially counting it. Iimori is BRILLIANT for learning. Toomi is also obviously good, but toomi has all t
  8. If you get to madarao the day before, you can book the bus for around 2pm which will take you there. Your accommodation at myoko might be a little problematic about taking you all the way to nozawa, but madarao might be a little easier for them.
  9.  In fact... yes! Screw you, superstitious terrors from the universe. I WILL go right ahead and post FOUR!!! sad faces. I have no idea how this happened, but i cannot post images in fours. If i do, i always remove one or add one. But i spit in your face cosmic wheel! And why bother changing my location? In the past year alone ive lived in: chikuma (3 months), bangkok (1 month), trat (3 months), koh samui (1 month), bangkok (1 1/2 months) and now china (2 months). Ridiculous of and in itself. Even more ridiculous when youre lumbering around 35kgs of your worldly
  10. Well thats not the bucket list attitude! Come on you! More dancing on the edge of a volcano and less "what if i get an audit???" (i do however admit that this idea is entirely good on screen, and much less good looking down at a 100m drop onto my head).
  11. Theres a TV programme in the UK called jump i think it is. Ive seen nothing of it. I know nothing of it (other than its called jump, appears to be a reality bullshit programme in the mould [authors own] of strictly come dancing, and i think theyre all learning to ski jump). And thats nice. But thats as far as i want to go with my knowledge of it... oh, melinda messenger hosts it. Gah! toooo much!!! So was just wondering about the whole bucket list thing... hitting a proper ski jump by the time im in my 50s seems pretty doable. I mean im never going to learn proper tricks. But straight
  12. To get to nagano is obviously (as people mentioned) a bit of a pain in the nuts because of the whole japanese alps thing forcing you to either go kanazawa to joetsu/naoetsu and then south, or to nagano then north. Bus is better but youre likely gonna need someone with a bit of japanese skill to help you out. In all my time, i never met a single JTB person who could speak even passing English let alone be in a position to explain anything to you. Then again, i didnt live in tokyo or osaka.... You could also look into takasu and dynaland as weekend options if need be. I assume youve moved he
  13. i think thats yomase foregrounded. I remember it being pretty much a straight cut down with a tiny detour about midway. Plus you can see the golf course traverse ever so slightly about 3/4s the way down it with x-jam being that kinda messier bit. Trouble is, i cant honestly remember seeing ryuoo from yomase. I remember seeing it from x-jam. That might be on account of the small hill directly in front of it though. If it is though, you can definitily see that there is a ride from the top of yomase if you hike up and then over to xjam or even kijimadaira (which is round the dark side of the moun
  14. The JTB pass covers all the resorts aside teh big two (goryu/happo) - tsugaike, iwatake, norikura and cortina. Thats an option as well if you like.
  15. had my neighbors barge right into my house when i first arrived. Like literally shove the estate agent out of the way to get in and nose about. They then gestured food. I kinda thought they were asking me to come over and eat something with them. I looked confused and feigned my best 'me no understandy! baka gaijin!' face. She looked pure affronted. Having thought this over i have a feeling she was actually asking me for food since she was a guest in my house and the very fact she had to even mention it and not be offered immediately upon crossing the threshold was absolutely outrageous. Them
  16. congrats! but to hijack your thread... Any fun changes to the JTB pass this year? I bet there bloody is since im miles away! ETA: Found it, looks pretty much exactly the same as last year. Akakura onsen, gala, yuzawa kogen, cortina/norikura, and tsugaike iwatake on the full pass. Also Madarao though. Dunno if that was on last seasons, but it offers something. Its a pity they cant get any of the other myoko resorts on it. Oh and Yomase/X-jam as well as kurohime/iizuna as ever. Basically same same by the looks of things
  17. To be honest i ****ing love scotland the brave and cant stand the saccharine shite of flower of scotland. Scotland the brave is one of those few anthems like the Marseilles, where you want to nod your head and wink at everyone. Its a classy and deeply under-appreciated burst of sunshine.
  18. Lots and lots of moaning removed Learn Japanese if youve got **** ALL ELSE going for you and live in japan. Itll keep you in work to retirement
  19. Believe it or not, i come from one of the last tory bastions in Scotland. Its always been to my shame that the former area of Kyle and Carrick voted tory all the way up until Major.Ive honestly no idea why since i come from pure village idiot working class lefty stock. But i guess Ayr and Troon might be the kinda place the rich retirees from Glasgow might end up since youve got the whole golf, beaches and Burns thing going on around there. Prestwick is pretty ancient as well. In fact the whole area is.... well, pretty. Maybes im doing this life thing wrong. Boring as shit to live there, but de
  20. I <3 Greg Davies. I even made we are klang must see TV despite the fact that in my heart i knew it was a few funny ideas stretched wafer thin over a series. His Standup though kills! go on youtube and watch it. But thats not why im here. Why im here is because i just watched the first episode of man down (his new channel 4 sitcom) and loved it. It even features the now infamous "SPACE MISSION!!!" (which youll know from his standup). He was always funniest when he was talking about his time as a teacher, and hooray! the series is built around it. Well loosely. Worth a watch.
  21. The dates been announced. I honestly think its going to happen. I think it because the reaction from the media in London has been "Of course they wont! Theyre not stupid!" And to be honest, thats red rag to a bull stuff right there. We are a stubborn people. If youd have put this question in 1989 even at the time of the poll tax protests (whats this English people? The poll tax riots ocurred in 1990 you say??!??), and even with by then 10 years of Thatcher, a referendum would have failed. Now i really dont think it will. Its just something thats time and arguably if its not taken now, it like
  22. I May have finally cracked what gave me food poisoning. In other unrelated news, i might have given myself food poisoning again. I havent got it yet mind you, but i can feel the angry belly gods begin the heavenly wash cycle. Im having a nice cup of tea to try and settle things, but i expect thats coming back up later tonight (one way or another - i know where my gag reflex is). Already tried throwing it up but probably need more liquid in there. Turns out that its the chips from the fast food place down the street, Its some chinese fast food place - guzan or something. But the
