SnowJapan.Com#3 0
A new Photo Feature, "Yuzawa - How it used to be", has been put online. http://www.snowjapan.com/e/features/features-82.html "If you've ever used the Yuzawa Kogen Ropeway in Yuzawa town (Niigata Prefecture), you might have noticed some of the really old photos of Yuzawa on the walls by the side as you wait to board. The photos depict the huge amounts of snow in the town and the Nunoba ski resort. We've been able to get hold of some of those photos, courtesy of our good friends at 'Shashin no Takahashi' and we present them in this Photo Feature." http://www.snowjapan.com/e/features/features-82.html Please note that the views expressed in any Features on Snow Japan are not necessarily those of Snow Japan. joshnii 2
Babe on rope http://www.snowjapan.com/e/features/features-old-yuzawa-7.html I love looking at old photos of places I know well.
Curt 1
Nice pictures. Is that Nunoba place still there? Changed much?
SnowJapan.Com#3 0
It sure is. And apart from pair lifts replacing the ropes and some debatably better fashions, it doesn't seem to have changed much at all. It's the small place at the bottom of the Yuzawa Ropeway, just off the main onsen road on the west side of the station. You can slide down from the top of Yuzawa Kogen resort and this is where you end up.
pie-eater 207
I like those pictures. Are all these people waiting for a lift?

TheOrange 0
Cool. Love looking at old pics. When I go back home I often end up looking over really really old pictures with my family. They can be a right laugh.
scouser 4
The place looked a whole lot better without that great big stonking ugly Shinky station and expressway etc didn't it....

Ocean11 0
Jesus, the lift lines were the pits. Not surprising snowboarders couldn't be arsed with it.
BagOfCrisps 24
Wow that 1 year (45) so different from the rest. Tonnes of the stuff. I'm interested in seeing pics of mountains before they had lifts and resorts on them (not just in Japan)
NoFakie 45
Look at all those great two-storey buildings! I bet they've all been rebuilt as concrete boxes .
oo 1
BIG concrete boxes in the case of Yuzawa. Nice pictures.
scouser 4
Sure. Its such a shame. That shinky station is the worst, its just hideous.
Worm 0
I wonder when modern lifts started being installed in resorts.
DumbStick 13
Nice pictures there. I wonder what that town was like before the routes, expressways, condos, shinkansens etc etc.
SKI 15
A small village apparently which suddenly exploded into modern Yuzawa. Nice pictures.
hubbabubbabubbaba 0
I hope they don't have lift lines (and lifts!) like that now!
