I was at an enkai last night and fugu was one of the dishes, so I took a deep breath and took a taste. It was just like rubber, nothing special at all. It caused a lot of fuss though as everyone was talking about it and it's 'dangers'.

fugu is nothing special other than if somebody cuts it wrong you die - simple. Dont think it taste that great at all. I had jellyfish the other day and it left my mouth all tingly. First time to eat it. Anybody else eat jellyfish before? What did ya think? Didnt have a taste for the most part but left that strange sensation...

Domino:

It's a blowfish.

We must all be eating someting different. I've had it a few times (Sashimi) and it's great. Seemed a bit sweeter than other Sashimi.

The Sashimi and Sushi in Nagano is a bit of a let down. Too far from the ports. Have to make a day trip up to Itoigawa for a good feed of Sushi

My first experience with fugu was rather memorable. A friend and I entered Kaneohe Marine Corps Base on the island of Oahu using a fake millitary I.D. one summer morning at around 4:30 am, with the intention of going fishing. We found a nice little spot to cast out and within minutes I caught a fugu. Seconds later a team of men surrounded us, took my fugu and and my friends fake ID and escorted us off base. Apparently President Clinton and his wife were sleeping in the bungalow 100 meters next to our chosen fishing location.
