Yeah, I said to the doctor in my terrible Japanese "Before this, I looked like Brad Pitt. Like that again will be fine..."

He thought it was pretty funny.

Just hope his stitching was better than his x-ray analysis...

He said, it will just be a local aneasthetic and set straight by hand.

Oh well, chicks dig scars... maybe

i told u shintani has an awful reputation -- i told a colleague this morning after she overheard me talking to you on the phone, that you went to shintani and she just stared back wide-eyed -- in hakuba people think he is a bad doctor, but i'm not speaking from personal experience, just what i've heard.

AK i'm not sure if chicks dig scars, but this could solve all your girl problems!! lol

no seriously, start investing in a collection of hats, instead of a collection of skate shoes.

did you shave off the beard yet? you really did look like cave boy lost in the backcountry for 2 weeks when you left my house the other day.

ps - you should take a photo of kumapix with you and get your nose done just like his ;\)

Ha ha very good Mr W, actually the doc at Niseki Red Cross hospital in Toyoshina (who is from Shindai Hospital) said "If I do this by hand, you will look like a Japanese boxer" when telling me I needed an op.

FT - 12 was an estimate of the total... don't know how many in that one big cut on my forehead, depends how close together they were... but it will be a scar for sure - like Harry Potter!

I had to go to sort out some insurance stuff today - my insurance that i bought in Britain just turned round and said that I had invalidated it by not having bought a return ticket before the accident, which is in the small print of the policy, but in contradictory to what I told them about my plans and situation when I bought it - basically they mis-sold me cover which wasn't actually covering me at all.

So I had the nightmare scenario of finding out that i need a big operation, and no insurance.

Read the small print people, and never trust commercial insurance companies to have got it right!

Japan's much maligned health insurance scheme has come to my rescue though, so this will cost me a fair bit, but not so much as to bankrupt me for the next few years!

It is also a kind of socialist reminder - private company or national health service, which comes to your rescue?

I'm ok now - I will continue to at least get my premium back from them.

I'll also check with my credit card company as you say FT, but I'm now a fully paid up member of the Japanese NH Insurance, so at most i'll have to pay 30%, and that has a maximum limit too.

In the meantime I am telling my students I lost a boxing match with the Kocho-sensei.

Good to hear you all made it out OK and the nose makes for a good story AK, though I sincerely hope you can go back to looking like Brappie asap.

The South face of Happo looks great but I always think of it as pretty dodge. Have only ridden it about 5 or so times off the resort. It always used to scare me to be underneath all that when exiting Goryu/47 backcountry.

FT.... bro chill - do you not read history books because you don't like what happened? just adding some more photos, specifically ones of me skiing, which are rare because i'm usually holding the camera. anyone who reads this thread will hopefully realise there were mistakes made, and might learn something.
