skidaisuki 0
My aim this season is to get out as early as possible. Have only made it onto the slopes twice before Christmas in Japan - and only once during December in last year's epic early season. What's the earliest you've been out in Japan, and where? brit-gob 9
Kagura (Yuzawa, Niigata Prefecture) is usually open around then I think.
thursday 1
I never go out before the lifts start.
slow 0
http://www.snowjapanforums.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php/topic/1/6026/2.html Last year RockyV was the first, skiing Karuizawa manmade snow on the 12th November. I hope I can start my season November this year. Can't wait!

skidaisuki 0
Slow - thanks for pointing that one out. As I recall, Karuizawa Prince is very close to the station. Great to be able to jump on the shinkansen at Tokyo and be on the slopes within 90 minutes in mid November.... Trouble is it's still 8-9 weeks away!
skidaisuki 0
I might add that from what I've seen, I wouldn't bother with Karuizawa in full season. Right or wrong?
grungy-gonads 54
Right. Questionable before too.
Fattwins 0
you can ski norikura maybe in October but this year i dont know the rain was bad. Tateyama after 50cms is skiable in the pockets 100cm and its prefect. 200cms heaven 300 cms watch out
veronica 2
I heard Karuizawa was more a shopping experience than a ski resort. That may or may not be true, but never heard people say it was a wonderful place for snow.
brit-gob 9
It is quite rubbish for the ski hill alone - the early times it opens is with man-made snow of course.
Fattwins 0
yeah but its more of a posh sort of ski place really right. sking is a distant 4th there no?
skidaisuki 0
It is a nice place to go - but outside the snow season. If the Prince does have early man-made stuff in November, then I might go for a laugh

Right or wrong? right... it was actually so low in my level of satisfaction that id never go to karuizawa again - unless i would be doing some outlet shopping... *wink*
