BagOfCrisps 24
OK so we are planning our trip now. This time it will be the 3rd! We want to try some new places and here's what we are thinking right now. Tokyo - 2 days Shiga Kogen - 3 days Nozawa Onsen - 3 days Madarao/Tangram/Myoko - 2 days Sounds good? We were also thinking about Arai but looks like the Not Open sign might prevent us from doing that one
scouser 4
Sounds good. (You've done the Hakuba thing haven't you?)
2pints-mate 0
Sounds good to me Mr Bag. Let's going.
Curt 1
How are you guys planning on getting around? Buses and trains? This will be your 3rd season in a row won't it?
BagOfCrisps 24
Basically yes. Unless we can find some good person to take us around.
SKI 15
Sounds like a decent plan BagOfCrisps - certainly different from staying in Hakuba for 10 days which if I remember is what you did last time. Madarao/Tangram are ok, but I'd head over to Myoko if I were you.
cal 6
And head for Suginohara first.
Curt 1
Hey London fellas are you going to meet up with any SJ friends while you are here? 3 seasons on the run - impressive.
BagOfCrisps 24
Why thank you. And yes hope to meet a few peeps.
Zaoman 0
A well planned trip up here (Yamagata/Tohoku) would be a good experience. You do need more days though.
BagOfCrisps 24
You actually in Zao then?
Zaoman 0
Pretty much for the winter months yes.
2pints-mate 0
Cool. We won't be visiting you though. We'll be sticking around Nagano and maybe Niigata a bit.
damian 0
Ask for some expert advice on this, but there is a chance that with buses and trains you will blow a half day+ every time you move between locations. For all the flying time, don't you want to maximise the on-snow time? On the flip side, if it is a Nagano tour that is the priority the you have some good places covered (if only sniffing each one). Why aren't you going to Niseko?
BagOfCrisps 24
This is indeed the main thing we are thinking about now. We may well strike out the Madarao/Tangram/Myoko part. I heard Niseko was rubbish, as well as being full of (rather smelly) people with funny accents, so we're not going there. Oh no.
giggsy 0
I'll be with you guys if you make it 4 years in a row next year.

BagOfCrisps 24
That was funny too
DumbStick 13
I'd take out the Tokyo bit as well and just get out of there asap. Did you "do Tokyo" before now?
rach 1
I think you posted that in the wrong thread there BagOfCrisps (if indeed you are laughing at le spuds comment in the other one)
snosurf 0
Sounds pretty sweet man.... Hope you score plenty of the good stuff! How many are going, have you thought about hiring a car?
TheOrange 0
I was going to suggest the same. Even if it is just Bag and 2pints,mate a car is definitely worth looking into. Though I suppose you have that cheap rail pass thing?
2pints-mate 0
At the moment it is just the two of us and we are looking into the car thing as well. Cheers folks.
fb_steve 0
When are you guys planning to tour Nagano?
snosurf 0
I'm going to Hakuba for a few weeks but now i'm starting to get jealous of your itinerary... Since it's your 3rd JaP trip and it appears you know some stuff that I don't! Still maybe it's necessary to do some time in Niseko and Hakuba before going off an exploring the less famed areas?
