Always notice back here in the Uk how toilets are so 'low tech', compared with fancy Japanese bogs.

Not even seat warmers.

Anyway, on the subject of toilets / wc's / etc

A luxury toilet controlled by a smartphone app is vulnerable to attack, according to security experts.

Retailing for up to $5,686 (£3,821), the Satis toilet includes automatic flushing, bidet spray, music and fragrance release.

The toilet, manufactured by Japanese firm Lixil, is controlled via an Android app called My Satis.

But a hardware flaw means any phone with the app could activate any of the toilets, researchers say.

The toilet uses bluetooth to receive instructions via the app, but the Pin code for every model is hardwired to be four zeros (0000), meaning that it cannot be reset and can be activated by any phone with the My Satis app, a report by Trustwave's Spiderlabs information security experts reveals.

"An attacker could simply download the My Satis application and use it to cause the toilet to repeatedly flush, raising the water usage and therefore utility cost to its owner," it says in its report.

"Attackers could [also] cause the unit to unexpectedly open/close the lid, activate bidet or air-dry functions, causing discomfort or distress to [the] user."

The limited range of bluetooth means that anyone wishing to carry out such an attack would need to be fairly close to the toilet itself, said security expert Graham Cluley.

"It's easy to see how a practical joker might be able to trick his neighbours into thinking his toilet is possessed as it squirts water and blows warm air unexpectedly on their intended victim, but it's hard to imagine how serious hardened cybercriminals would be interested in this security hole," he told the BBC.

"Although this vulnerability seems largely harmless, what's clear is that companies building household appliances need to have security in mind just as much as computer manufacturers."

I guess so because when we were choosing the toilets for our new house we said we just want heated seats as we dont use the other functions.

The lady looked at us in a strange way like I had said somethiing really weird to her.

She told us that although it is possible to have a toilet with just a heated seat it is actually virtually the same price for the one with all the functions and that it is a better quality toilet.

She really didnt want us to by a less equiped toilet.

It reminds me of that Viz top tip that said "Buy the same television as your next-door neighbours and enjoy endless fun changing the channel from your back garden with the remote".

Heated seat and wash. Always use them at home.

Really miss it if on hols and they don't have them.

The places I've been with the warmlet and washlet are Japan (obviously), Korea (some places), Taiwan (some places).

Why don't you just sit down and plan somewhere really great, and then move into it.

I did then they decided to build a skate park 150 metres from my home (which is great for the kids and I even skate there sometimes) but not good to live next too.

And your tastes & lifetsyle change as your kids grow.

I also work for a builder and design homes for a living innovation in Western Australia is costantly evolving.

Yes, I remember in that documentary "Crocodile Dundee", Mr Dundee (I can't remember if that was actually his name) was very confused and amazed by the lifestyle in America, after living in Australia for so long and living with crocodiles.

Perhaps he took a few hints back to his countrymen and things have progressed since those days.
