Tubby Beaver 209
Had some Leffe Bruin, Leffe Blonde, De Konnick and some other Belgian beer then a couple of Lowenbrau's at a German pub and now enjoying Green can Sapporo Classic
Slippery Jim 65
Well, just back from TY Harbour this evening and had a few very nice brews there. Tubby, I don't know what they changed but somehow it turned Ichibanshibori from a nice beer to not a whole lot better than Bud. Give Kirin Classic a try. I'm also a fan of Black Label and other Sapporo brews, and Classic matches up pretty well.
Tubby Beaver 209
Kirin Classic is ok, I just much prefer the Sapporo lines over the other big brewers stuff. I had a super dry for the first time in ages, last night, now there's a beer that tastes like bud! Since moving to Hokkaido, I rarely drink black label now....always classic. The Sapporo bar in Sapporo Factory has a couple of good beers on tap...Red Star is my favourite....at 500¥ a pint, it's value for money for sure....just wish they'd sell it outside of the brewery!! 7-11 2
Natsukashii ne, Tubbs. You'll be 'harking' for it soon enough!
7-11 2
I was given 6 of the Shiga Kogen jibiru last week. Very nice it is too, one of my fave jibirus.
Slippery Jim 65
Sapporo seems to have other beers they sell mainly (only?) in Hokkaido. Good brews. Now that Classic is widely available outside Hokkaido, it doesn't seem quite the same. I think it was Sapporo 5-Star (?) that I had up north a few years ago that was really nice. Tubby Beaver 209
U can get 5 star in Honshu as well. Their best is the kaitakushi beer they only sell at the museum tour....I wish they'd sell that everywhere else
Alexander L 80
I'm glad I can't get the Classic where I am. Makes me relish each drop that I guzzle while on winter paradise island.

joshnii 2
Today I have been given a box of 24 large cans of Sapporo Classic 'Only Hokkaido'. Is this the famous great one people have spoken about on here before?
Tubby Beaver 209
Yeah. It's just a lager, nothing fancy, but a very smooth drink....I like it a lot
Alexander L 80
That's the Classic. It's "only Hokkaido" are instructions to only drink it in Hokkaido. I obey as it's my first drink when I land. Straight to the combini.
joshnii 2
OK I had a can just now. My review, in full: Nothing special.
Slippery Jim 65
There was a time when they only sold in in Hokkaido; made it something of a cult beverage for snow sliders.
