big-will 7
Sometimes I go alone, and often am on a lift with some Japanese - I often try to speak to them and you seem to get 2 main types - the ones who will be real genki and talk to you and the ones who play dumb. How about other peoples experiences?

gamera 0
I mostly go alone and sometimes try to talk. Young boys and girls are usually super genki to reply, old farts like me sometimes reply breathing quick saying " tired, sore muscle!" Sometimes i am talked to like " Eigo hanashi masuka?" . Yes, there's sometimes people play dumb.
zwelgen 0
It seems to be that if I talk to them theyre usually chatty but its only the very very occasional person that will strike up a conversation with me. Esp if you speak J you can have some good talks. People have been really helpful when ive lot my skis in powder and are sitting in my bomb crater crying

amandanism 0
my lack of japanese speaking skills practically prohibits any form of interaction beyond sign language. i would just smile and watch the scenery.
danz 0
I usually like to try and chat-up my lift neighbours...you can kind of tell who is willing to talk, and who isn't... the dude with the aviator glasses and purple jumper that snores on the way to the top is usually not the ideal candidate for a chat... anyway...good for practicing my nihongo and passing the time... danz
