sanjo 2
On the Niigata news just now: Irihose has 341cm of snow, compared with 250cm in Yuzawa. Seems that that area to the north of Yuzawa - between Yuzawa and Nagaoka - has got the most snow in Niigata.

Tubby Beaver 209
do the roads around town have those onsen fed sprinklers to help keep the snow off of them?
SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan 178 Posted February 1, 2011 SnowJapan Admin Share Posted February 1, 2011 On the roads above and lots of them, yes
SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan#Andrew 6 Posted February 1, 2011 SnowJapan Admin Share Posted February 1, 2011 In town yes lots of them, though I don't think up in places like Naeba. I was actually in Naeba today - unfortunately not to ski! - and there's definitely less up there than there is in Yuzawa town, and there's less in Yuzawa than there is in Shiozawa/Minamiouonuma. Still tons everywhere of course.
KatyB 0
I will be going to that area this weekend, cannot wait. Never seen that much snow! First time skiing in a while as well.
