ILoveZao 8
Thank you. Will do, but it's a few weeks general rest now I think!
robot girl 0
Zao is a great place. I have been 3 times now and it is one of my favorite skijo. I love the onsen there also and food.
BagOfCrisps 24
Me too. Just open up a few places to eat and drink please, Zao people!
sskee 0
Was hoping to get there March 13th but that didn't happen. Top of my list for 2012.
masher of moguls 0
Does Zao get much in terms of moguls?
muikabochi 208
From what I remember, two areas. One is the famous "kabe" to the right of Zao Ropeway near the Astrea Hotel. Then the other was a bit further to the right under one of those very fast quads. But happily, for me, Zao isn't covered in moguls!
SKI 15
Yes more lots of long cruising runs rather than moguls and bumps at Zao. Might not be your cup of tea masher, but still worth a visit.

masher of moguls 0
K, cheers. Still looks like a place to visit.
ILoveZao 8
It is that! The snow has gone now, it feels a long time ago. Ropeways moving for the "green season" though they don't get much rest in a year.
SKI 15
How are the numbers ILoveZao, people turning up as usual or has tourism in Zao been affected up until now?
geeski 0
I have been to Zao twice in my time here in Japan and it is a really good place to visit. Pity it is not closer to other stuff, but you can easy go just there and have 3-5 days. As others have said, finding a place to eat in the evening is a bit of a chore if you aren't staying, though if you are with car Yamagata city area is just 20 minutes or so drive. ILoveZao 8
Not good if driver wants to drink though. And a taxi is expensive. Another alternative is to stay down below in the Yamagata area.
